im under the impression that profession is pretty competitive, in that the barriers to entry are very low (pretty much anyone can be an insurance salesman, right?), and that like, the top 10% of insurance salesmen make 90% of the money, and that the majority of guys in it either make enough to squeak out a living or quit

Short term rental property owner (furnished houses) to refinery contractors. 23 houses, 83 beds. I charge $200-250/week/person. Same price as a motel, but people can cook, do laundry and fap in their own bedroom. I rent out the whole house to groups of co-workers. You can do the math. I don't rent out individual rooms.

Things were rocking 12 months ago. In May I was down to just 2 tenants because the world slowed down.

So I diversified my renters. I have guys working on cell phone towers, guys installing fiber optic cables, and guys removing contaminated soil in addition to refinery contractors. Tried getting wind farm workers but that fell through.
