i am a total newbie in the fragrance game.

Their only must-have is Africano. That's their clone of Bal d'Afrique. The rest of their stuff, if you are familiar with the original, you will definitely smell the slight differences and lower quality in the clone.

If you are a total newbie I suggest you sticking to higher end designer houses as places to start for good quality smells. They get compliments. Chanel, Dior, Prada, YSL, Armani, Viktor & Rolf, Carolina Herrera, Versace, Gaultier etc.

Happy day for me, just pulled the trigger on a grail bottle. Finally found a discounted bottle of Amber Aoud Crystal.

Still wrapped in the cellophane too so i won't have to worry about getting a poverty leaky version like with my Aoud bottle. SO stoked to have this in the collection finally.

Africano - It's borderline impossible to not enjoy this one. All of the unique sweetness of 540 extrait with none of the ambergris funk

Hawaii Volcano - Arguably the best beachside/summer fragrance of all time. Zero versatility, so it'll collect dust from September to May but whenever i'm hanging out on some sand this is the fragrance i reach for.

King Tut - Does a complete chit job of imitating the fragrance it's inspired by (Creation-E), but i got an obnoxious amount of compliments with this while i had it.

Lasts forever, and everyone within a one block radius will be smelling you all day. I don't really like wearing it to work or when driving, because you will smell like you've been up all night drinking Captain Morgan at a leather orgy in a cabinet shop. It has an oily, diesel fuel vibe to it as well. Macho in a bottle.

Indigo Perfumery is a sweet little shop, I've been there in person twice. The lady who owns it is fantastic and loves talking shop.

White Vetiver by Abel - has a nice citrus open with the vetiver , but dries down as you would expect a clean vetiver. Tom ford GY is identical and cheaper.

Sundrunk by Imaginary Authors - Im not a huge floral guy , opens with a lot of white floral and to me a candy "fizzy" sweet orange , not so much realistic orange. It stays pretty linear on
drydown, IMO. Id pass on this.

Stairway to Heaven by Jul et Mad - This one is probably the most interesting one of the lot, Unique. Whole lot goin on here but works. Powdery Clean white musk , soft citrus, aldehyde "airy" vanilla . Drydown smells slighty more smoky and spicy with the amber/vanilla "airy" fluff hint still there. I see the notes have florals but I dont really get much of those on my skin. Whole lot going on for my potato nose but i like it. Sloop you son of a bitch , ill have to test this more.

Copper Skies By Kerosene - boy this one is Interesting , all the notes i like. Amber , honey , tobacco with hints of clove and basil . It reminds me of eight and bob with a bit more complexity. Want to try this in the cold weather. Not sure id buy a bottle with so many similar colognes.

Salome by Papillon - to me this smells similar to a roja great britain decant i have. Strong leather musk scent, jasmine undertones. Not terrible but Too mature for me.

Haven't tried Black but can confirm Absolute is a better all-round scent.
Though I'd say Intense is better than, or at least equal in quality to, some of the more expensive booze/leather type frags out there

You pretty much nailed it. There's a lot going on, but it's all so simplistic it seems. It's not like anything else I've ever smelled, I cant even compare it to anything. Performance with 2 sprays from the bottle is fantastic as well, easily all day scent bubble.

Definitely diminishing returns on "compliments" with these three. And full disclosure i almost like wearing Africano as much as I enjoy wearing Amber Aoud. So i'd definitely point people to that.

Weird. Have received literally 0 compliments on aventus from something with a vagine. I dont think it's bad, but for the price i'd just get the knockoff since im not going to wear it much. I posted a page or two back, but i bought my bottle....2?....years ago, and have barely used 10% of it.
