Stone and Trump have known each other since the 80s, why would he associate with a criminal for nearly 40 years then?

It's weird to even have to explain this to people, but I'll say it again.

Every presidential campaign... except maybe McCain, who wasn't even trying to win... breaks a ton of laws. They just do. Obama did, Kerry did, Bush did. I could go back further. It's just that normally, there isn't someone with a full-time staff of people and unlimited scope investigating it for 2 years after the election. You can't have billions of dollars in spending and the most powerful office in the world at stake and not have people cut corners and bend the rules. It just doesn't happen.

In terms of associating with Stone... again, there is nobody who makes billions of dollars in real estate without having to at least associate with some shady characters. This isn't software development. People who run billion dollar businesses don't play by the same rules, politicians don't play by the same rules, ect. Like it, hate it, whatever. It's the facts of life and I'm confident that NO president in the last 100 years (maybe Eisenhower?) would be free from scandal if you dug deep enough.

The private email thing while secretary of state is a whole different issue. As is the uranium one issue. Matters of top secret information and nuclear materials while in office are vastly different than campaign matters.

For the record, I think the whole dossier thing itself is stupid. It was basically opposition research, and that's fine. The issue was when a bunch of idiot politicians decided to trust something sourced from an opposing campaign as a valid intelligence information. It was basically along the same lines as the people looking for Obama's "real birth certificate" when he was running. It was stupid, and the only issue is dumb people picking it up and running with it.

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what the Clinton foundation does, other than shelter them from taxes on million dollar speaking fees and donations from foreign interests. Nobody on either side even seems to really care about that. Like I said, you can't raise a half-billion dollars in hard donations and probably another billion in Super-PAC money without there being all kinds of shady activity.

If anyone can show Trump plotted with the Russian government to actually subvert American interests once elected, I'm all ears. If it's basically a bunch of finance violations and people having questionable affiliations in his campaign, show me one that doesn't operate under that model.

He opted for public financing when Obama had already declared he was opting out. That meant Obama had $730m to spend to the $300m McMain would be able to use. Before this, the GOP candidate pretty much always had the fundraising edge. He lost the game before it even started, and I don't believe it was just an ignorant choice. If you were following the campaign at the time, the last 2 months was literally him sounding like he couldn't wait for Obama to be inaugurated.

At the very least, he was half-hearted into the whole idea and just liked the attention of being the nominee. He definitely didn't actually care if a dem won the office.
