Smile Making your own preworkout? What adds value for you?

Hey guys! I'm new to the whole "mix on your own" thing and I'm looking to make my own preworkout. I'm deciding between a high stimulant or a long and steady buzz effect without the crash. Also, I'm buying all-organic to make my mix all-natural without the crazy fillers (*cough cough* proprietary blends) people use and the unnatural flavoring. Hopefully I can add in some devil's claw and turmeric to reduce inflammation/help with joint issues.

Just looking to see what people think would be best!

Let me know if you think the organic is a good idea! I have the basics (creatine, caffeine, beta-alanine, citrulline malate) but I think some added ingredients would be cool for some extra benefits.

Making your pre means putting in an effort each and every time to get a single serving.
Highly recommend not mixing bulk ingredients for a homemade, standard 20-30 product as there is no guarantee of equal distribution.

    But with that said,
Betaine and Ashwagandha are a staple for me

If I had to make my own, i'd just take straight caffeine instead of going through all that trouble. There are always deals on great fully dosed pre's that there's no need to waste time making your own pre workout.

    Agree.

VaporX5 is a budget friendly option (BOGO, stacks with discounts & free shipping). You can add on additional bulk ingredients like Citrulline (what I personally do for upper body sessions).. and still cut costs

Let me know if you think the organic is a good idea! I have the basics (creatine, caffeine, beta-alanine, citrulline malate) but I think some added ingredients would be cool for some extra benefits.
I don't make my own. Too many ready mades that have what matters and taste pretty good too, without being that expensive. And the convenience factor.

I wouldn't put beta-alanine in it, since beta alanine timing doesn't matter and it's really more of an endurance ingredient vs traditional weight lifting.

I wouldn't put creatine in it because creatine timing doesn't matter (and my habit is to add it to a protein shake so I'd stick with that)

If for some reason I insisted on making my own it would be caffeine pill + citrulline malate and that's probably it. No mixing that way, no flavor concerns, no worrying about how much of each ingredient is in there...KISS

Turmeric? I'd stick to my curcumin (BCM-95)

Or I'd just buy a pre workout product like I always have

There's no way to make your own pre and it be convenient. Plus, consider how you're going to mask the taste of the raw materials. Some are down right putrid. There's companies putting out well dosed pres without added dyes and etc. already on the market. You're also going to want to have a decent food scale to weigh out each of your powders before mixing them.

B complex vita, especially B12 for energy. Taurine, Acetyl Carnitine, DMAE, Tyrosene (which will prevent the caffeine crash) AAKG. Post workout stack: EEA’s, Alpha Lipoic Acid and L-Carnitine.

The problem with most readymade prewormouts is that at the beginning, they work, but as time progresses they become less effective. I got to the stage where I had used almost every preworkout on the market and gradually started topping them up. Also there are things I put in my pre-stack such as Acetyl L-Carnitine which I have not found in a readymade. Whilst I am on a bulk, I like to try and keep myself as lean as possible, so thjngs like CLA also goes in too. For me I am able to tailor my pre-workout stack to meet my needs.. in the U.K. there are companies such as Myprotein who sell base products.

First of all I wouldn’t take it pre-gym, I take my mix daily in the morning on am empty stomach. Mixing stuff with protein powder is not a good idea since whey powder will slow down the absorption. As for tumeric, it’s a waste of time because the amount of cucurmin in tumeric is very low and thus ineffective, you are better taking it in supplement form

All organic...why? There is no evidence to support organic being better for you. Yes I understand you may want fewer toxins in it, but considering the amount of toxins in the air we breathe then it’s probably a waste of time

Then you are relying too much on the pre.
Either you built tolerance or you are expecting too much out of it.
I've actually lowered my stim from 400(last year) to 250mg this year, and I've rotated among just 3 preworkouts.. Still having an ideal workout every session.
If I ever don't, then the problem is preparation.

Making your own pre sounds like a good idea at first, but I didn't like the amount of time that it took + usually buying all the different products in bulk works out to roughly the same $$$.

    I like to add 6g L-Cit.

I'd recommend checking out Myprotein's Supplement line if you are looking for BULK powders.
