780 pounds of vintage York iron:

    11x45 ><
    6x25
    10x10
    6x5
    2x2.5

I'd like an even number of 45s and another pair of 25s and 2.5s. I have more than enough weight for when I'm lifting by myself, but when lifting with others it would be nice to have at least 16 45s so I could set up 405 for squat and 405 for deadlift at the same time.

You've got just under 770lbs of plates. Unless you've got a leg press, yes you have more than enough (unless you deadlift or squat more than this). Any more is luxury, not necessity (coming from the guy who has 1500 of plates in the basement and another 800 or so in the garage for the prowler sled).

its really a pointless question... if you have plate loaded equipment you need more, other wise you shoulf have +/-200lb more then you can lift on your biggest lift...

i have maybe 3500 lb of Revolvers, i can max out all my plate loaded equipment and load every bar i have with 45s and still ahve some to do farmer walks ... this is equipment forum... so regulars that are anal about having matching sets will keep buying just to grow the sets... yorks and ivankos will always keep their value, so you can grow sets as much as your wallet allows... if its a cap set... stick with 500lb

    The End

My BIL has a Ferrari and his "daily driver" is a Porsche (cause it has a back seat for the kid seat) BUT most often takes the bus to work.

I'd have to take an inventory to get an exact number, but approximately 7500lbs of plates in total.

    Approximately 2800lbs Intek Grip Plates
Approximately 2200lbs of Unbranded DD Ivanko
    Approximately 1000lbs of 60s Vintage York (8 DD 45s)
Approximately 700lbs of bumpers (400lbs of which are Pendlay Elite)
Approximately 200lbs of other Vintage York
    Approximately 300lbs DD Vintage Marcy
    Approximately 300lbs DD Ben Plates

I have way more than I need now that I have gotten rid of most of my plate loaded machines. I'm much better at buying than selling. I'm always worried that I will regret selling something.

You certainly don't have an iron deficiency.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I think I can always find a reason to have a few more plates, but right now I have 10 pairs of 45s, 8 pairs o 25s, 6 pairs of 10s and 5s, and yes one pair of 2.5s...not sure how that happened. Then I have 2 full sets of bumpers and one set of KG change plates. That sounds plenty for a garage, but I think I still need some more just so I can be lazy and not have to lug weights around my garage.

    impressive. got me beat lol.

i have 3000 lbs of cap weights
1500 lbs of rubber weider grip weights
    500 pounds of troy bumpers

and roughly 630 pounds of deep dish single 45 plates.

i plan on replacing some of the 10's 5s 2.5s cap weights with old school york plates, which i currently have around 400 pounds of. the smaller cap weights aren't cast as well as the larger ones. i have no interest in the bigger york weights because they suck for lips as far as gripping them goes. the caps aren't too much better but still a better lip.

eventually i may replace all the smaller cap weights with the yorks but it would be hard to find enough to do so.

if the yorks had the same lip, i would go with the yorks for the larger 25 and up sizes.

the 25 35 45 lb cap weights are cast well enough to me that i am fine with them. the weider weights are my 'nice' weights. eventually i'd like the color revolvers but not at the price they want new

Every now and then you have a crummy evening and then come across an encouraging message. This inventory of weights brought a smile to my face. Thank you, sir!
