Your use of the words "didn't bother" show your bias. You have no way of knowing why there was a smaller turnout, but we can certainly conjecture on the topic. Like when Obama was elected, I think it was like 99% of black people voted for him (maybe 97%), and as it was a historic occasion (1st black president) it stands to reason that large swaths of black people would show up to see it.
I'd say that alone probably accounts for the majority of the difference. Trump's election, while historic (in the sense that all presidential elections are historic), doesn't have the same level of importance in the minds of race ideologues. The left is all about identity politics, so in their minds, a black man being elected was an earth shattering event, and ergo they showed up to witness it. While Trump got more of the black vote than most Republican presidential candidates have in the past, the overall number that voted for him was still fairly small, so it's not hard to see that a small number of black people (and minorities in general, and women/feminist nutjobs) showed up.
