    Thumbs up Maltodextrin vs dextrose

    Hi all,
I want to ask about maltodextrin and dextrose for post workout.Maltodextrin has a glycemic index 105 as you mentioned. So it raises blood level and insulin dramatically. So it must be a very good post workout carbohydrate. What is the best? Maltodextrin or dextrose? Maltodextrin has 0% carbohydrates from sugars whereas dextrose has 100% carbohydrates from sugars. However maltodextrin has extremely high glycemic index. So maltodextrin is a better choice for post workout as no sugar involved.
    Thanks

Either / or. I choose to use maltodextrin in my post workout recovery if I'm not packing a meal.

Thanks a lot sir. I just want to understand the theory behind it. For example 2 foods with the same glucemic index but the one that the carbs come from sugars (as dextrose is) and the one that don"t come from sugar(as maltodextrin is), is the one that dont come from sugars a better choice? If they have the same GI means respond to blood the same way and so are both good for post workout

It doesn't matter. Dextrose being a sugar is just the semantics - it doesn't make a difference. Whereas maltodextrin will be converted to sugar once it enters the bloodstream.

    And what about Vitargo?
    Is it better than maltodextrin?

Is it best taken during/post WO, or only post WO?

Is it a complex carb? And has a hight molecular weight so it has a slow absorption time?
    Sorry for my english..

It is better than maltodextrin? Does it "no-making" fat reserve?
A lot of bodybuilder use it...
What do you think or what do you know about Vitargo?

Not every complex carb has a high absorption time. For example
Potaro is a complex carb with high glycemic index meaning low absorption time. Vitarko is again fast carb with low absorbtion time
