Was hoping that many would take note and fix or at least better control the guts on stage this year after Arnold's now famous rant ...sadly even guys who showed very little evidence such as Rhoden had terrible guts on stage, back stage in transitions etc....this was one of the worst years I can recall for the guts...Heath kept it under control for the most part on stage but backstage shots revealed that it is bigger than ever....Dennis, Shawn and Roelly all let it hang out way too much on stage...very disappointing...

Because the athletes don't care what Arnold says about guts, and they won't until the judges start penalizing severely enough to make them care. If Phil and Dexter and the other top athletes with guts lost their high Olympia placings to guys like Brad Rowe you'd see bodybuilding change overnight. Everyone would toss out their old game plans and come back looking very different the next year. But as long as the judges convey that it's possible to win with a gut as long as you're big and lean enough, that's the package athletes will bring.

Exactly THIS. There need to be SEVERE penalties for any distension. And I know people are very adamant about it being a non issue as long as it is controlled on stage, but I strongly disagree with that. There is a HUGE difference between the midsection of someone who is just trying to hold in their protruding gut and someone who has no gut.
Look at the bodybuilders of the 80's and before and their midsections were tiny compared to today, because there was no distension to begin with. The V taper is one of the main things I look for in a physique and with these ridiculous midsections today, it is becoming less and less important.

so much this^^^ Never mind controlling the gut etc..they should NOT HAVE GUTS in the first place...period end of discussion....these are supposed to be the best built, most muscular men in the world!!! IN Arnold's day they looked like they were statues carved out of granite...today their muscles look soft like balloons blown up with air...stomachs looking like pregnant women....to the casual viewer this is a total mindfu#*% and to the long time fans of the "sport" a complete travesty!

so what is it going to take then??? Arnold (the godfather of bodybuilding is sick of it), 90% of fans excluding Stealth are sick of it....the general public finds it disgusting...the pros themselves don't seem to give two chits.....so who is to blame for the current state and how can it be remedied????

Shawn Rhoden has only himself to blame. Yes, he had a gut, but when he flexed his abs he looked ok.
What's the solution? FLEX YOUR DAMN MIDSECTION WHILE YOU'RE ONSTAGE. Show some life while you're up there, instead of going up there all relaxed, leaning back like you're the coolest cat in the land. You've been saying you were about to beat Phil in all poses, you've been waiting a whole damn year for this moment, Kai was out, so you were looked at as the main challenger...ACT LIKE IT.
All he had to do was flex his abs for the short time he was onstage. He had been preparing for a whole year, waiting for this moment. He couldn't flex his midsection while he was up there getting judged?

There was recently an article on MD I think about use of gear discussed very openly by Dorian, Shawn Ray and Levrone. They all basically said the same thing, which is that the stuff the guys are taking now is making them appear soft.
Dorian himself said that he tried it and it made him lose his hardness and he wasn't willing to go that way.
Outside of the guts, that is definitely the biggest difference between the 80's and early 90's and now. They just LOOKED harder then they do now. They all look baloonish now without the hardness they had before.

Gut control has been a thing since 2004.(i m talking in terms of judging. Guts go back to second half of 90 s)
IFBB acted like people would be marked down but it honestly didnt affect placings as much as it should/can. It is sad but it comes with the freak status when people want to reach 250+ pounds. Fans want the freak factor too just as the bodybuilders want to add size. I knew the moment Phil won in 2011, he wasnt gonna try to replicate the same package with more conditioning. His initial response was probably 5 more pounds with at least the same condition. However, easier said than doneGrainy hardcore religious slabs of thick dense muscle. So grainy that it hurts your eyes

LOL. It is coming down to who can suck in their gut and keep it sucked in the longest. Then they get off stage, breathe out and relax and look like they have a medicine ball under their abs/skin.
It seems like it is also getting worse. Ramy and Rhoden, both known for their signature waists and tight mid sections both had the bubble gut-bubble-bubble-bubble gut going on at this year's O.THE LEVRONE 2016 MR. OLYMPIA COMEBACK
(Official announcement through Special Invite as of 05/07/16)

im pretty clueless about drugs so im probably wrong here, but in this video that some guy linked here a few days ago
http://clips.team-andro.com/watch/23...mr.-olympia-84
his physique/midsection looks like hes just taking testosterone imo, only the traits that are affected by testosterone are enhanced(v-taper, low bodyfat(/w diet ofc), wide big shoulders/back/chest/arms/quads), nothing else, no thick midsection, no big bloated face etc
i think this looks the best, genetics + what im gonna presume just testosteronedepression & avoidant personality masterrace crew
