Due to the crash in oil prices, my company had to slash some jobs. I was new and was part of a group of people let go. It sucked but I got a decent severance package and was told that when oil picks up again, I will have priority to be rehired.
Lucky for me, I saved like crazy and my apartment lease ends at the end of the month so I can just leave without anyone to answer to.
Bought a one way ticket to Bangkok and will just mess around in SE Asia for the rest of the year or so until prices go back up.
When bad chit happens, make new chit happen. Gonna be a fukin trip!

ENJOY THE LIVING FUK OUT OF THIS EXPERIENCE. Thailand is fuking awesome and the rest of SE Asia is awesome from what I've heard (I've only been to thailand).
Life only gets worse with bills, work, and chit.
So enjoy it srs.
And don't listen to miscers talking about sauna's and ladyboys.
There's WAY more to Thailand than that.Last edited by Wyzz; 03-21-2015 at 06:01 PM.

no CEO time. More like 5k / month after taxes and 401k. But I got a very good shot at getting my job back when things pick up again. Left on very good terms and made a name for myself out in the field so I know people. It just wasn't in the cards with the way the market was. Not at all worried about reintregation when I return.
For now, I will use my free time to have fun in a place that is beautiful and cheap to travel in.SF Giants 2010 and 2012 World Champions

Sounds fun. Be sure to keep enough money in the bank to come home.
You will see the occasional white guy handing out flyers to thai boxing events, lookin dirty as fukk, and you kind of feel bad for him cause you know he got trapped therewithout any money and doesn't know the language and is at the bottom of the social ladder there. But then you don't feel bad for them because you realize he was probably a sex tourist.

03-21-2015, 06:04 PM #27Death is impossible for us to fathom: it is so immense, so frightening, that we will do almost anything to avoid thinking about it. Society is organized to make death invisible, to keep it several steps removed. That distance may seem necessary for our comfort, but it comes with a terrible price: the illusion of limitless time, and a consequent lack of seriousness about daily life. We are running away from the one reality that faces us all.
