Doesn't matter if you can buy cash, it's still a financially irresponsible decision unless your parents are buy you the car.
E90 328i is what like $12k used with 100k miles. Good luck with maintenance and repair premiums that tag along with Beams and MercsBest Gym Lifts 445s/340b/525d

W204 is very reliable. I'd recommend it. They both drive almost the same, don't like the suspension on either, but that's expected on a small car. You can pile a lot of miles on it without any trouble.
If you buy an E90 read about their water pump issues, they're famous for it and I heard it costs up to 1k to have it fixed in the US.
It all depends on the production year.Eastern Europe Crew

So you're gonna buy the entry level model? Basically just buying it for the nameplate then huh? Just about every kid your age does that and it just makes them look like a try hard poverty *******. Trying to buy clout or prestige via the entry model just makes everyone think you're a fool.
wait wut

Again you assume things but you know nothing about me. I am not buying it for the name plate, in fact I was considering buying a Porsche Cayman S earlier but decided to save the money and go for my 2nd option. I am buying the "entry level model" because I dont need the extra space and options that the E class/5 series offer.

E90's look ugly, and so do the W204.
Also, two completely different cars; BMW is a drivers car, Mercedes is a relaxed/luxury type of car (drive both and you'll notice, 100% srs).
Get an E92 or E93 if you can - 2 door coupe (E92) or convertible (E93), a lot more aesthetic than both cars you've mentioned, and completely different body/design.
I have an E93, it's a two-door convertible and handles amazingly. Handles amazingly, feels beautiful to drive, and the interior is fukn amazing - it's a sporty type of luxury interior, while Merc's have an interior design suitable for an older person.македонски генетика.

Not a fan of the E90.
If those were my choices, I'd go for the Merc, but tbh, if it were me I would get one of the following, if I had a good amount of cash and two cars - people often forget that while they might be able to handle the cost of repairs, often they forget that for the most part they wont have a car while their car is being repaired.
E46 330i ZHP 6 speed manual
540i M sport
Obviously, If I had unlimited cash, id go for an e46 M3 coupe or a E39 M5, but money.
If you cant afford the risk of your car being in the shop for days on end, save your money and buy an IS300:
