ok so a few months ago when i looked to get into mining nvidia GPUs had literally 1/5th or less of the coin generating power as the ATI cards. how is this stuff different?

Article in the OP can explain it better than I can, but it was a Proof-of-Work algorithm that could only be utilized by AMD/Intel CPU (no gpu) but recently in this month, ways of utilizing CUDA technology in Nvidia GPU's.
Whereas before, the fastest miner was Dual Xeon E5-2450 @ 2.1Ghz/24Gb (16 physical cores, 32 threads) that did 430 collisions per minute, now for reference my GTX 780 Ti does 1900 collisions per minute. The article also says the OpenGL variant of this failed, so AMD card's aren't able to do this.

Due to architecture differences I don't think onboard gpu will work (similiarly to amd cards won't work). Since Nvidia has the CUDA stuff for computing. Even if it does work you'll get potato cpm lol.

What I do is enable onboard gpu in bios and plug my monitor input into that while I'm mining so I can at least browse and watch videos without stuttering. Can also pull off playing League of Legends on low settings lol

going to turn down gpu clock and bump memory clock to 7000 to see if i can reach 3500
that should be $15 per day or so

You can try limiting the mining program to run on 2 or 3 cores...if CPU is what's limiting you.

When I go into ypool it shows that all of my pts is unconfirmed. Does that mean it just hasn't loaded it onto my actual balance since it's not at 1.0 pts yet or am I doing something wrong?

Nah, it'll take some time for it to be confirmed then it'll be payout-able. Has to be verified and all that I believe.

Upping my memory clock to +307 helped quite a bit. I've seen people up theirs to over +1GHz but I'm not sure how wise that would be for mining 12+ hours straight

username goes after '-u' and password is after -p in the line

On mine it only works if x is the only thing after -p. I don't have to put in my password

Edit: Nvm, I went into the workers tab on ypool and x is my actual default password for the worker

Haha nice, just hit 2 pts few hours ago. Takes quite some time for it to go from unconfirmed to balance but when it does and it hits 1..oh so satisfying.

Figured it out.

What difference does it make which ypool its targeted towards? 8080? 8081 like the one from the original post? Leave it targeted towards multiple ones like it is when I downloaded it from the "updated" quote?

Cmd window keeps telling me that it failed to login due to invalid username or password? I put my username in the bat file like was specified. Do I replace the username_PTS thing with mine, or add it in before that? Specifics please, reps for help.

Replace the "username" with your username but not the PTS part. Your miner password will be different from your normal login (unless you changed it). The default password for mine was just x
