It's still on in the background and the SAME SCENE at the end in the bar with that ****ing girl singing. It's actually funny how bad it is, could turn into a remake of Wickerman type of deal.

This is the key aspect that this season is lacking. Cohle was one of the most compelling tv characters ever and Marty was great also. S1 was very character driven and the slow plot progression worked because of how interesting the characters and their relationships were, so the story could take a back seat and you wouldn't mind, and there were enough clues during episodes to make everyones minds go into overdrive with regards to the story, no matter how little.
I told myself I wouldn;t hold it to the standards of S1 as it's just not fair but finding it so hard to do so.1977

Rewatching season 1. The thing they did so well was to create a tension and almost a heaviness from the the get go. But ultimately it was cohle being a wack job and woody being the polar opposite. They were at each others throat. Another thing is that Cohle was always the smartest guy in the room, I don't feel like anybody in season 2 is a mastermind.

It is enough that TD S1 didn't win any awards , have to say it here.
It was all right, but personally I could never quite understand the hype.
Started thinking that i must be missing something...everyone else thinks it's outstanding so it must be, right? but no. Read the following somewhere and i think they are very right " the Emperor may not be wearing any clothes."
Apparently peer pressure exists in the virtual world of the interwebzzzzzz. so evceryone has to ride the train
Don't get me wrong , good Season 1 , but tbh it's pretty "meh" .
And don't let me start on the last episode. It had some great qualities, dialogue, scenes, atmosphere and the space scene were with terrible pain a person transcends into seeing things that no normal human can see or understand but again , it is overrated.
Episode to Episode, S2 is building up on the same pace S1 had, i think episode 7 and onwards ,people will start realizing that S2 gonna become the mind fukc thatll keep us standing on our toes.
you do realize when i said what i said , i only said it in sarcastic manner right. Given the VV is a comedian and you cannot take him seriously yet all his tries in this show and trying to look serious is sh!t but still better than woody harlsonLast edited by sharepass11; 07-13-2015 at 07:29 PM.

No because if his ho had the watch it means she was connected to whoever killed Casper, likely her pimp, the Mexi dude. And its pretty clear that McAdams and Farrell know that this wasn't the dude behind this whole thing, and now they realized they got a whole bunch of innocent people and cops murdered over a nobody Mexican pimp.

Vince Vaughn is a crime boss. His main operation is the poker room in the Vinci casino. He pays money off the top from said poker room to Mayor Chessani. He also ran other money making operations like the club, a waste disposal company and rent farms (the apartment block he goes to with a million people in it). He sold off all of his other interests in order to gain a lot of capital. Capital for what though?
The state of California has plans to build a high speed rail through the middle of the state using federal funding. VV wants to buy parcels of land adjacent to the railroad in order to make a fuk ton of money. Basically the federal government pays developers who own the land to develop the property to entice residents and commerce to move there in order to increase tax dollars. The federal government will also pay for any cost overages. Not only does this make VV a lot of money, it also opens the door for him to become a legitimate business man, similar to what Stringer Bell was attempting to do in The Wire.
So VV sold off all of his illegitimate businesses and was going to partner up with Caspere, the Vinci city manager, to buy land from Catalast (the corporation that owns all the land parcels adjacent to the railroad) to get in on the development money. VV was told by Caspere that together they would need 10 million bucks to buy in (in reality it only cost 7 million though). So VV pays Caspere his share of 5 million and Caspere was supposed to use that money (combined with his) to buy the parcels of land, but he never did. And then he died. So VV money is gone and he has no records to prove of his business dealings with Caspere and Catalast. Since VV is out of money he is currently attempting to regain control of all the money making ventures he previously sold off, which is why he takes back the club from the Mexican and goes to shake down the construction company, the apartment guy, etc.
VV was hoping to lure Osip (the leader of the local russian mob) into the land deal as well, but since Osip got cold feet about investing VV is currently wary of him, he doesn't know if Caspere was killed to threaten VV and his attempt to get involved with the land deals.Remember, no Russian.

Ray Velcoro - Colin Farrell - works for the Vinci PD. Is involved with the investigation into the disappearance, and eventual murder of Ben Caspere, because Caspere was the city manager of Vinci. He formerly worked as an LA Sheriff, during which time his now ex-wife was raped and possibly impregnated by her attacker. Velcoro used the local crime boss Frank Semyon (Vince Vaughn) to identify the attacker, at which point Velcoro killed the guy and used Semyon's waste disposal company to get rid of the body. As a result Velcoro starts working on the side for Semyon and ultimately transfers to Vinci PD. Has already been used by Semyon to beat up a newspaper reporter who was writing about corruption in Vinci.
Antigone Bezzerides - Rachel McAdams - works for the Ventura county Sheriff. Is involved with the investigation into the murder of Ben Caspere, because his body was found within their jurisdiction. She also was in charge of a raid on a prostitution ring that turned out to be a bust, so she got bumped down to serving eviction notices at which point she learned of a girl that has gone missing, which may or may not be relevant. Her father is some sort of spiritual hippie leader or adjunct professor at the Panticapaeum - some California hyper liberal cult/institution. Coincidentally this was also the last place the missing girl was seen. Is currently in trouble with her department due to the failed raid and slooting it up and taking advantage of lesser coworkers.
Paul Woodrugh - Tim Riggins - works for the California Highway Patrol. Is involved with the investigation into the murder of Ben Caspere because he found the body and also because Caspere was a witness involved with the state investigation into corruption in Vinci local government. Self loathing homosexual. Possibly physically/sexually abused by his mother and/or father in the past. Went over to the middle east to fight for a military contractor, which allegedly was involved in some shady stuff, which has yet to be specified. Is currently in trouble with his department because of his involvement with said military contractor and because an actress claims he propositioned her during a traffic stop.Remember, no Russian.

The circled land spots were polluted farmland and other abandoned sites that require cleanup. They were going to be purchased on the cheap (because of their worthless condition) and then cleaned up through appropriated federal tax dollars, at which point they could be rezoned (due to the incoming railroad) and sold to commercial developers.
Remember, no Russian.
