How much did mixed grip add to your dead?

All my deadlifting up until now has been done with pronated grip. Just awhile ago, I tried mixed grip, and was able to get 4 x 220 lbs. I felt like I could have done more. Whereas when I used pronated grip, I was hard pressed to lift 5 x 215 lbs.

Is grip really that big of a factor? How much did mixed grip add to your dead?

Doesn't really add any weight but it decreases the difficultly of doing the reps and the amount I can do. Probably because I hover between 90% of 1RPM and 1 1 RPM.
    2 x 330 lbs (then bar slips on 3rd rep) turned into 4 x 330 lbs.

Mixed grip will increase your deadlift IF your grip is a limiting factor (which is the case for almost everyone).

With mixed grip, I can deadlift 140kg. With double overhand, it's only 115kg.

    Cool. Thanks for the replies.

How do you guys suggest I use mixed grip? Should I even bother with double overhand?

I think you should use double overhand for as long as possible. I am getting close to 400 pounds still using double overhand. I tried mixed grip but it feels really weird. I'll have to try it again soon but not yet.

After like 225-275lbs I switch to mixed.

No reason to use it for as long as possible, doesn't help you deadlift more.

I always used straps (currently at around 190kg), started going raw, mixed grip, and i feel more comfortable. I think at around 3 plates, it would become difficult to use pronated grip.

Mixed grip. Doesn't make the weight lighter, just allows for you to knock out more reps before your grip fails.

Use double overhand until you think it will limit the weight you can lift, then switch to mixed. Your grip strength will increase as you lift more weight. If it really is a factor, do exercises that will work your grip. Don't let grip limit your lift.

I use double overhand for my 1st warmup set @ 135. Anything 225 and above I use a mixed grip. Anything 315 and above I use chalk. Don't use straps! Raw, heavy deadlifts will build your forearms better than any wrist curl. It's really helped my weak grip. I think using straps on other exercises like shrugs & rows are good cause you can focuses on the muscle more but not deadlifts cause you need that functional strength.
