I wish I had the time to sit around and cook meals but I really do not right now. The shakes are better than not putting anything in my body.

edit: Not that I am very proud to say this, but I previously lost weight from 249-202 pounds by eating 3 meals, plus 2 protein shake snacks in between, and a combo of weight training and cardio. I know the steps to succeed, but often lack the discipline to accomplish long term diet/exercise consistency.
Eat however many meals you want, it doesn't matter.

He said the lack of weight gain or loss can be from my hormones adjusting to all the weight loss. Who knows but I know this, I still have a ways to go to get the body I want to see looking back at me in the mirror.

Some of my stats from these 2 pictures:

    Weight - from 270 to 190
    BF% - 35.5% to 12%
    Waist measurement - 49.5 inches - 32.5 inches
Hips - 46.5 inches to 39 inches in Dec 2012. Still at 39 inch hips for months later.
Dude that is a huge transformation! Awesome job and a ton of respect man!

    How do you know this??

Meal timing/frequency is largely irrelevant. There is no metabolic advantage to eating more frequent meals.... it's the total 24 hour energy balance that will dictate whether you gain or lose weight. As nosepull already mentioned, eat when it's convenient for you. I eat one large meal every day (in the evening).

Alright - I appreciate the intent of your posts, but this is getting to the point of frustrating (for me). I am not wanting that to come off confrontational, but simply making my feeling known. I am not an expert, not giving advice to anyone, so there is no need to highlight, bold and critique words as if I am preaching my way as the gospel.

However, should you feel obligated to do so, I would like to point out that if you quote me, please do it correctly and understand "context" because what I said was "I know the 5 meals+ per day concept to keep your metabolism working/burning calories more efficiently". I am not stating this as fact or myth, but rather that I am aware of the school of thought which teaches this. Obviously you do not subscribe to that theory, which is ok, but do not mistake me for claiming what is right/wrong/ good/bad, better/best.

Remember, this is a motivation thread - and I have not asked a question yet.

We were trying to help - don't take it personally. There's a lot of misconceptions in the world of fitness, and most of us have had our own mistakes corrected by members of this forum. We're just trying to pay it forward.

Went to the gym last night at 6pm thinking it was Friday because I am working 7/week for a while. Disappointed when I arrived to a closed YMCA. Went for a 3.5 mile run instead.

I just restocked on my protein powder and got Dymatize Nutrition Elite xt 12-Hour Protein Powder 4.4 pounds for 31.34 each. I bought 3 tubs. I figure the longer release protein is better when cutting anyway. I got to have my protein powder to put in my morning meal of oatmeal haha.

Im eating a measly 880 calories today so I feel ya man. Trying to make up for binging a few days ago.
Why do I do this weightlifting thing for the last 34 years with all its ups and downs life has handed me? Because each time I came back stronger. NEVER GIVE UP. Gym life is about more than muscles getting bigger and weights going up. Its wisdom discipline dedication humility you name it.

That's only a few oreos and you're done for the day O_O. But seriously, I would die on 880 calories. I love food too much. That is why I cannot wait to bulk.

I intended to eat at maintenance this week. My maintenance turns out to be right around 2200 calories including running - so low! I hope that by eating at a small surplus for a few months after running my marathon in June I can add muscle and maybe increase this.

Respect to everyone cutting at 1600 or below - that's crazy hard.

Usually I feel more hungry after this long without food. Still feeling really no hunger. Today has been quite easy.

My online sources I've looked at say that ~1500 is right for me to lose 2 pounds a week. Not very fun, but worth it.
