I have been looking to shed some bodyfat for awhile now I have plateaued at about 10% and figure I got about a good 8 pounds of fat to go to be down in the 6% range. I have always heard doing cardio first thing in the mornign will burn fat like crazy. However, I have also heard it will burn muscle tissue just as EASILY. So I was wondering is it true that if I run first thing in the morning (maybe twice a week) I will lose just as much muscle. Any input is appreciated....

I do morning cardio 3-4 days a week (4am)
My advise...
If on an empty stomach, keep intensity moderate and duration to 20-40min max (preferably 20-30 min),otherwise you may start to burn too much muscle.
For lifting in the morning, I would think that on an empty stomach would be a bad idea. Maybe others can help advise on that.

If you're gonna do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, you might want to take some glutamine beforehand for the anticatabolic effect. I personally prefer to eat something before I do cardio, but since I am on a keto diet, it really doesn't make much of a difference, since fat is my source of energy anyway.

as long as your protein intake during the day is fairly high than i dont see much of a problem burning too much muscle.....and i would not suggest doing weights on an empty stomach....for that u do need carbs as your main source of energy! Peace!
