What most studies don't consider -- given conflict of interests and money$$$$$$ -- is that the liver/body is not an organism solely meant to process aspartame. Your body is taking in multiple poisons over the day and you have to process them all. If you take 1g of paracetamol over the course of the day any poison you have over and above that is putting strain on your liver and who knows what else.
The point is to manage your overall toxins/poisons.

I used to be a diet coke addict. I would sometimes drink upwards of 12 a day.
I quit using about 9 days ago because I was having severe knee joint pain during squats, and after some research, I found studies that show people with arthritis cutting aspartame out of their diets helped them tremendously.
2 days ago, I squatted with absolutely no pain for the first time in months.

That's silliness! Aspartame is hydrolyzed and absorbed in it's components. If what you are saying is true, then 200g of virtually any meat and 8oz of tomato juice would be far more toxic than one serving of Aspartame as that combo contains far more of the three components than any Aspartame serving.

Actually studies have conclusively proven that aspartame in certain amounts is poisonous (EDIT: dangerous). They have concluded that average consumption in isolation is not enough to do damage, which is why the FDA approves it in the USA. What they haven't considered is aspartame build up and also aspartame consumption in conjunction with other toxins.
If you don't find that reasonable, or at least logical enough for you to consider the matter a little further, then I don't know...

The list of bogus and discounted studies on Aspartame are stacked to the ceiling. You need to research further and understand the metabolism better. It's nonsense and the FDA, along with health agencies all over the world, continue to say so but these things keep coming out. The latest from a group in Italy and everyone jumped on that band wagon. Of course virtually all serious researchers, including the EFSA has completely discounted that work as poor and biased science, which most everything else has turned out to be. You completely ignored my comment about eating 200g of virtually any meat coupled with 8oz of tomato juice, which contains FAR more of the constituent components of Aspartame.
Water is toxic in the wrong amount BTW!

These days the "real researchers" are the ones with more money. Unfortunately there is probably no objective scale with which to measure credibility in that arena. At the same time having more money doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong. There is a track record of conflict of interests though.
On a personal level I get migraines when I consume aspartame even in small amounts (along with many others), so my view is subjectively colored to interpret data in that way.
Yes, but that's reducing my point to the absurd and a pretty much redundant thing to say.

Reducing it to the absurd? Not really!
There are people that report headaches perceived to be from Aspartame and that certainly may be the case. The way to test that would be have them ingest a meal such as I described above and determine if that too gave them the headache, if so then potentially one of the constituents that make up Aspartame could be the cause. If not then likely there is another confounding variable.

Some people think aspartame is toxic.. some people think fast food from McDonalds is toxic.. some people say the same thing about multivitamins, tuna, powdered supplements, etc..
The fact is, in moderation, I highly doubt any negative side effects will be present in regards to any of the above said foods. The first known contraceptive was crocodile dung, used by Egyptians in 2000 B.C.

I suspect you don't consume spoonfuls of aspartame powder. What you probably mean is you have a tendency to get migraines when you consume food or drink that includes aspartame as an ingredient and due to the controversy over it you've pinpointed aspartame as the cause, which is faulty argument. The causes of migraines are myriad and nebulous. Folks who say they respond to artificial sweeteners also tend to respond to a number of unrelated triggers, so I'd be inclined to study the combination of chemicals found in artificially sweetened foodstuffs and their effect on the brain chemistry of migraine sufferers rather than just jumping to the "aspartame = poison" conclusion.
Your point is already absurd.Science improves practice, practice advances science.

I made a subjective point and you're trying to rationalize away my experience. You need to attend intellectual honesty classes and either ignore subjective points or accept them as anecdotes i.e. My experience lead me to interpreting data in a world of information overload, conflicting interests and cognitive dissonance.
Geez, I forgot that I was on the internet for a second there. Never mind.

Nobody is trying to rationalize away your experience, you are likely doing that!
Here's a little something that might help, it makes Nobrah's point. However there is really no solid work been done studying Aspartame and headaches, which is surprising given the amount of studies been done on Aspartame. Oh wait, let me rephrase that, there has been no solid work PUBLISHED on the links of Aspartame and headaches, other than the one cited.
