    Maximum fish oil per day?

Just bought some Omega 3 liquid and it says to take a teaspoon a day (5g).

    Nutritional Values:

    Typical values per 5ml serving:
    Pure Fish Oils 4,600mg
Total Omega 3 Fatty Acids 1,357mg
    of which DHA 414mg
    and EPA 644mg
    Natural Source Vitamin E 5.5mg

I am currently taking x3 teaspoons spread out the day. Is this too much or can I up the dose? Bit worried about blood thinning, mercury etc.

    Cheers guys

This would really all depend upon your diet. If you are getting Omega 3s from natural sources then it is probably overkill.

If Im looking at it right, that means you are taking in 15g of healthy fats per day via this supplement, which in my opinion is more than enough. I think people tend to overkill the EFA's because they are "healthy" which people misconstrue a bit. Yes they are healthy, but fat is still fat, and too much of it will make you fat. You are going to get fat from other places in your diet, no matter how lean it is as there is fat in all lean meats, and even oatmeal has it.

When I would diet for shows, or just for sheer personal goals, I would only take in 2-3 g of fish oil per day and that was more than adeuqate. So in my opinion you could drop to 1 teaspoon as the label says, or max of 2 (one in am, one between 12-2 pm and be just fine.

    Just my .02...

Exactly right, it depends on your diet (which is where you should strive to get the majority of your EFA's from). Some people just throw out supplement dosages without taking into account people's diets. Good post.
