if you want to get a good job I suggest ignoring all of that and focusing on computers. Learn programming languages, web development, design programs, get certifications for networking and security, etc.

i was in IT for 5 years without a degree, my last year in IT, 2009, I made 67k, got laid off, went back to school

Really all about who you know. If you know someone in the field, try self teaching. I'm in similar shoes after being laid off from a decent GIS job. I've been slogging along in sales, but thinking of taking programming more seriously than college. That feeling's worse in your 30's. Trust me.

lol how is 25 too old? guy I was flatting with last year was 30 and just finishing up his dent degree (4 year course) and he didn't seem out of place at all, in fact he went just as hard as pretty much anyone in terms of going out etc. he is also now setup for life. I wouldn't feel weird going to college later in life, especially when you dont know what will happen in the future, brb living till we're 200+
