There is always someone less fortunate, with real hunger, with real adversity, who made something of themselves. What is your excuse?

uw0tm8. If you have Windows installed on an SSD, you can load up your browser with 500 shyt plugins and still have it run faster than a vanilla browser on a mechanical drive.
Btw, a video games framerate relies directly on the processing power of both the CPU and GPU. Framerate has nothing to do with hard drive speed or RAM. The only things those can help is loading times.
You're not going to get more FPS from turning off background applications. Maybe a frame or two.
Something that WOULD however effect fps is something like a running video, or if you're rendering a video / converting songs as it uses the CPU for processing power taking away from the game. But a browser? Gooby pls.

Being a Marine has nothing to do with whether I want to see something like that.
What's up with the Army plans? Still considering enlisting?

Actually, no. I'm too much of a pussy, srs. I'm scared of going on patrols or recovery missions. (IED's trip me the fuk out)
Ps; The worst thing I remember seeing, video wise anyways, is some guy carrying a home made bomb for July 4th, blew his hand clean off and the scream he let out was terrifying. Not sure if it was real but it sure looked real and sounded even more real.

You know that you take an aptitude test before enlisting, right? They find out how smart you are and then let you choose a job in the army. You could end up doing computer repair, mechanic, avionics, the list goes on and on. Just cause you join the army doesn't mean that you are going to be 'in the trenches' for 4 years.
Disclaimer: I'm assuming the enlistment process is similar for the army as it was for the marine corps. What I just described is how it is done in the USMC, not neccesarily for the army, but it's gotta be pretty damn similar....

I wanted to be a wheeled mechanic. Then I found out they frequently go on humvee recovery missions and patrols. Basically no matter what you do you're going on a patrol. Or they'll shove you in the gunner position even though you're a mechanic.
Maybe not if you work on computers etc, but I didn't look into that.

If going on patrol is what is holding you back from enlisting, I'd suggest looking into other MOS's that the army has that need to be done 'in the rear'. nohomo
Edit: I just took the test on army.com that tells you what jobs are available based on your interest in certain subjects. Under computers & technology, it gave me:
Possible jobs include:
Satellite Communications System Operator (25S)
Computer/Detection Systems Repairer (94F)
Avionic and Survivability Equipment Repairer (94R)
Signal Officer (25)
Chit sounds pretty interesting. Ok, I'm done recruiting. If you have any questions, I'm moore than happy to answer.Last edited by cnh57811; 12-24-2012 at 06:22 PM.

My brother was a marine. Scored high on the aptitude test, got into intelligence, learned Korean, obtained top-secret clearance, broke codes and intercepted transmissions, never left Hawaii for his entire 4 yr enlistment.
Funny enough, he took a private contracting job and is now in Afghanistan at some FOB in the middle of nowhere. Ironic to say the least. Very lucrative pay, tho!

It wasn't a suicide either because there was another shot 30 seconds later. Unless he missed his face the first time.

I constantly alt + tab while gaming...so RAM is important to me. If you notice, I never said anything about FPS so lesson wasn't needed. I use a chit ton of addons on certain games and sometimes I even work while playing...the programs I have to use are memory whores. I can do all of that fine without any freezing or excessive load times on google chrome as long as adblocker is not installed.

Merry Christmas, Brad, and everyone else! I assume you're going visiting today?
Christmas used to be a hyuge deal at our house when we were younger and it was all about the presents, lol, but it's more of a family day for us now since we no longer exchange gifts. I usually decorate my place and my parents do too, but we don't celebrate the religious aspect since we're H1ndu Br@hmins. (None of us are very religious but we do participate in all family prayer services when we're in 1ndia, and we're generally good peeps/we try not to harm others, etc., however I do eat meat.)
For anyone who has some down time today here's a little entertainment. I'm not a gamer but I really enjoyed this web series. I haven't seen all of it - I stopped at Season 4 but I'll catch up with it when I can. This is Season 1, Episode 1 of "The Guild" and it's 4 minutes long. I know this is old news for many of you, but I've encountered a number of people who are into gaming and comic books who haven't seen it yet, so...
If you like this, you'll find it's easier to watch the episodes in sequence if you go to watchtheguild.com. Scroll down a bit and you'll find a link for "Season One" toward the right. It's all free to watch.
Please note, it does have some strong language so you can't watch it with little kids around.
Happy Holidays!start where you are

Merry Christmas you sexy fuks. I'm working today. Going to fly the colours and hopefully a few people will see me and gain a little more appreciation for us. Not holding my breath though.
Hope everyone is safe and enjoying the day with someone important to them.1175 @172
