    Going backward switching programmes

I'm going to keep this short and sweet.

Weeks ago I switched from a hypertrophy programme to a strength & endurance program for 7 weeks. Not only did I change repetition numbers but I changed nearly every exercise. Now I am back to my old one for the last 2 weeks and can't lift as much as I used to be able. I used to be able to bench 35kg dumbells and now I find 30kg db very tough. I've been eating loads and getting reasonable sleep so energy shouldn't be a problem really.

Anyone know what might be the cause of this?

The S.A.I.D. principle. If you want to get stronger at something, you have to keep working at the 'something,' and not something else.
    No brain, no gain.

Nice one ironwill but by that do you mean that I shouldn't change or are you saying that because I changed I obviously have to rebuild this strength again?
Not knowing the cause is hurting my motivation..

I'm simply explaining why you 'lost strength' on a specific lift after not having performed it for a length of time. What you describe sounds entirely normal to me, especially considering that it was a dumbbell exercise, which requires more stabilization than a barbell or machine movement.

Likely you'll rebound back to the 35s in short time, compared to the original length of progression from 30 --> 35. It's not like starting all over again. Keep program-hopping to a minimum, if at all.
