I'm going to keep this short and sweet.
Weeks ago I switched from a hypertrophy programme to a strength & endurance program for 7 weeks. Not only did I change repetition numbers but I changed nearly every exercise. Now I am back to my old one for the last 2 weeks and can't lift as much as I used to be able. I used to be able to bench 35kg dumbells and now I find 30kg db very tough. I've been eating loads and getting reasonable sleep so energy shouldn't be a problem really.
Anyone know what might be the cause of this?

I'm simply explaining why you 'lost strength' on a specific lift after not having performed it for a length of time. What you describe sounds entirely normal to me, especially considering that it was a dumbbell exercise, which requires more stabilization than a barbell or machine movement.
No brain, no gain.
