polio IS a virus. in the 50's there were over 25,000 cases of polio a year, and killed thousands per year. vaccination began in '55. we have now entirely eliminated it from the united states, and the only time people get it is when they're from somewhere else where they don't routinely vaccinate.

yes, certain vaccines are rushed and do not have proper testing. swine flu was questionable, for instance. yes, the big pharma can be questionable. being a critical thinker isn't wrong, but refusing to acknowledge the wealth of good that vaccines have done for the sake of hating on 'the man' is just ignorant.

But it's not 100% effective because influenza is a virus and not a bacteria. That's why the common cold can't be stopped, there's millions of versions for it. Compared to for instance salmonella or gonorrhea which are easily treatable with an antibiotic.
