I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
Not that I want one lol, just why is a Hyundai $65k and who exactly is buying it at that price.

I had a chance to test drive it and its pretty fukin nice. Hyundai has definitely stepped their game up. Not as nice as a BMW but comparable to a Lexus LS series. Interior felt kinda cheap but it was nice and big inside.
The only downside is that Hyundai doesn't have the brand name recognition. Although in a couple of years I feel like they'll be up there with other luxury brands.“I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying.”

This. Hyundai's and Korean cars in general have gotten much better than before.
Interior of the Equus doesn't look that shabby. Never seen one in person, I have seen their sub-flagship model: the Hyundai Genesis floating around.
I'm guessing maintenance costs on them when something goes wrong would be much cheaper than if something went sour on a BMW or Merc.Last edited by EatingPancakes; 07-27-2012 at 10:22 PM.

Hyundai's image is ruined in the US because they were introduced as a budget car company. Thats why when you see the price, you go wtf? However, they are considered mid range and high end in other places. That $65,000 car competes and beats most cars in that price range and more. brb ballin on a budget

Hyundai needs to do what Toyota did. If you enter the market as a cheaper car no matter how nice your car actually is, people are going to be reluctant to spend big money on it due to the prior reputation of older models.
Toyota came out with Lexus and it was immediately introduced as a high end car, rather than trying to make a toyota seem like it was all of a sudden a top tier car. Even though Lexus and toyotas are very comparable in a lot of models, and in some cases virtually the same car, Lexus has that brand image of being worth the big dollar.
If Hyundai introduced a new higher end brand of a car, they would probably see better results.
