If you had the #1 pick in the NBA draft wold you target
a PG, Big man, swing player if you thought there was a player from each category that was equally as talented?
Same question for baseball.
Same question for football other than qb.Founder of MMDELAD

5-10 years ago I would have taken the big man because Jordan was the only guy to win not led by a big man (in general)
Many teams win without a great PG, unlike in college
But with how the game has changed, I would now take the swing player
NFL: Pass rusher
MLB: I would be torn. COnventional wisdom is to load up on arms, but they are also more injury prone.
THey also take longer to develop and when young, so many teams have them on pitch counts and inning limites.
But land one that can pitch 2x in a playoff series and they are far more valuable than 1 hitter in the order.
1. If you were the Texans, you would take...
Manzel-Dynamic, Texas-native, fans would love him, new-versailte qb-type, but questions about head and size
Clowney- more solid than a qb pick?, partner with Watt for best pass rush, unmatched physical, but questions about motor
Blake- more prototypical qb, best arm, history with OC, but not elite in anything
Bridgewater- most NFL ready, most accurate, but closest to ceiling
Other
Trade down if possible
2. The Texans will take?Founder of MMDELAD

I think they WILL take Manzel.
Carr was a bust but
a. teams cant help themselves and go for the qb
b. Carr was in an un-winable situation on an expansion team with no help/blocking, etc.
NBA
I cant believe they actually considered a 4pt shot. Dumbest idea of all-time.
NCAA
Looks like Wichita will enter tourney undefeated.
NFL
SO Sf goes to the NFC title game 3 years in a row and have won the most games in the last 3 years (since Jim Harbough became coach)
Yet it sounds like they can't wait to get rid of him.
Me thinks he must be one of the most unlikeable personalities if this is the case. Most teams would kill for that success, especially so quickly.
He must be the biggest a-hole of all-time.Founder of MMDELAD

Browns asking prospects what they could do with bricks and paper clips.
I guess thats why they always suck
And teams asking Blake B. about his (hot) Girlfriend and if she will accompany him to meetings with them.
Retarded NFL teams being retarded.
If you were a player personnel guy, what are the 3 best questions you think you could ask a prospect to gain more insight about him?Founder of MMDELAD

+ he had a bad combine(if you take stock in that)
+draft experts (if you care what they say) dont think very highly of him
His on-field play has been very good (SEC D-player of the year)
But College success doesn't always translate into the NFL as you point out with Tebow.
My guess he goes in late 3rd or early 4thFounder of MMDELAD

How do you rank your interest/how much you follow the major pro and college sports?
baseball
basketball
football
hockey
and any others
Does it resemble the regional preferences?
For instance, the south is huge into college Football (ex.SEC country), while the Northeast could largely care less about college football and would be far more into MLB, NHL, college bballFounder of MMDELAD

Did you never like bball, or were you turned off by the AAU-ization of the game?
For me
baseball
NFL
College Fball
dropoff
NBA/NCAAB
NHL, golf, tennis
Only follow college baseball at all for prospects for the Yanks to draft.
Only will watch the last couple laps of a NASCAR race or follow storylines on ESPN. But it does seem like every race car driver and golfer has a hot wife.
I follow hockey more now than I did as a kid. But golf is less interesting due to lack of anyone being the top guy really. Its always someone different winning majors. No big rivalries. I mean this weekend the big thing was Tiger, Phil and Rory all being in the same tournament and Tiger drops out, Phil misses the cut and Rory chokes away a big lead.
Tennis taking a hit due to lack of Americans. Sad to see Fed in decline. Miss the Sampras/Agassi days.
Basketball has deteriorated at both levels due to AAU and guys going pro early.
Worried the NFL could be headed down the wrong path with all these rule changes and video game offensive numbers.
I think the MLB finally has some good young talent being infused into it, but most of America doesn't seem to appreciate the game like years back.Founder of MMDELAD

speaking of which, Cuse is falling apart lately.
Thoughts on Wichita State? Undefeated and went to the Final Four last year. Obviously they play a cake reg. season schedule, but is there a chance they are legit?
Also glad to see Kentucky not nearly as good as they were projected to be (I hate Calipari)
@olympic hockey--> one of the reasons why I want them to go to the larger ice surface in the NHL
Also surprised the CFL isn't on your list. I wasn't expecting you to say you enjoyed the NFL.What Raider fan has experienced enjoyment in the last 25+ years?

Not surprised my Cuse, lack of depth will kill you.
I like WSU and want to see them win. They have most of the core from last year so they know what its like to go deep so I don't see why they can't win.
I'm a bit of a Calipari apologist, someone has to recruit those one and done guys.
I'd be all for the change to the bigger surface, which will likely faze out the goons who can't use their sticks as anything but a weapon.
CFL sucks, its a watered down product. Any league that has an award for the top Canadian player and limits on imported US players is admitting it is a low tier league. Also with 9 teams, each team is bound to win a grey cup at least once per decade unless you're Hamilton which hasn't won since 99/2000.Oakland Raiders--Toronto Raptors--Toronto Blue Jays--San Jose Sharks

in that case its gone bad
you are better off ot in the playoffs and getting in the lottery
The 7 and 8 seeds are just going to get swept by mami/indiana anyways.
PGA:
Tiger has awful round #4, shooting a 78! Red shirt really hasnt worked for him an 4-5 years now. PGA continues to have new and different winners each week, only HURTING the product.
NCAAB:
Wichita St. wins their conference tourney and wil enter the real tourney undefeated. They certainly deserve a #1 seed despite a soft schedule and I actually expect them to do well. They went to the Final Four last year and have a veteran team (valuable in college).
Zona and Florida should get the other two. 4th will be decided after conference tourneys finish IMO. Kansas, MUS, Duke, Nova all in the hunt. Funny how ESPN had Kentucky as the most picked favorite to win it all now they are in turmoil. Same with Cuse after their hot start.
NBA:
Favorite to win it all>
Only teams with a chance IMO are Pacers, Heat, SUpurs, Thunder. Rockets and clips are solid but I dont think they are ready enough or complete enough to overcome thosefour. Personally I would love to see DUncan win one and walk away.
OKC finally got Russ back and they have been under 500 sinece. He is a great player but perhaps the fit just isnt right in OKC and they could get a lot for him in real players to put with Durant. They will never do it but perhaps it wouldnt be a bad idea to.
NFL:
Everyone is on the Blake bandwagon for #1 all of a sudden. Everyone jumping off Manziel. Clowney rose after the combine (like we didn't know he was fast and strong?). I ignore the mocks after the top few projections because the chances a team actually selects the guy Kiper or McShay picks is like 5-10%. The only ones they get right are at the very top when everyone knows that a team is planning on taking player X.
Question:
Will Tiger EVER win another major?
I say no. Yes I know he probably has another 25+ tries but he clearly doesn't have the mind or body that made him the player he was. And if he wasn't a golfer people would make a bigger deal about the fact that he hasn't one since his old trainer (heavily linked to steroid distribution) got busted and they ended their relationship.

% chance he reaches Jack?
NBA
DOnt knw why Phil came back to NY. Horrible situation. Bad situation and he has no experience in that role. Could tarnish legacy unless he thinks its a no-lose because if he fails, then he can just point to the fact of the shambles he is walking into and he can always hang his hat on his past success.
NFL
Free Agency starts tomorrw at 4pm but I am sure a lot of guys already have under the table deals set up.
Happens ever year.
NCAA
Love watching these conference tourneys. Kids playing for lives to get their once chance at playing in the dance.
Embid could be out until MidMarch--> WOnder how it will impact his draft stock. Lots of big guys with injury problems (Oden, to Bowie to Walton) didn't pan out so well.

can't go higher than 20% which is already quite high. If he does reach Jack, he'll have to go on a tear in the next couple years. I don't see him winning much if at all in his mid 40's.

Honestly dumb-founded by NFL FA. Revis takes 12 in 1 year after talib got the biggest deal of all time. He is 2x the player.
Didn't think he would ever pass up money as a FA.
Peverly done for the year, I am glad. I honestly hope is walks away. I don't wanna see someone die on the ice and he would have if they didn't have a heart defibrillator.
Kobe done of the year and his career as a top player is over. LA gotta be re-thinking handing him that golden pillow contract.
Conference tourneys about to HEAT UP! Diggin it. Now the real games start.
You know the organization must suck, when BRANDON WHEEDEN asks to be released by the Browns. The one team he might have a shot to start on.Founder of MMDELAD

Coaches/Owner in each sport I would most want to have:
NFL: Sean Peyton (BBelichek was it for a long time but I think he has been subborn to change. Jim Harbough is great but his team hates him)/ Steelers owndership (stay the course, commited) or GB (shareholders/the people)
NBA: Popvich or Thibideau/Cuban
MLB: Buck S./Steinbrenner (the cash)
Coach/School
NCAAB: Coach K/Duke
NCAAFB: Stoops or C. Peterson/Irish
Most overrated:
Les Miles
Kevin Martin
