ITT: We love to fish

Went to a trout stream today. Weeds are getting pretty high. Got 4, released all of them. Going again Tuesday but probably a different spot this time.

Can someone educate me on a cheap fishing rod around $25 to catch some small fish with in a lake/river?
What different types are there, what should i look for when purchasing one? Will rep.

You can get cheap combos at Walmart like GarthVader said. They won't be top of the line, but they'll get the job done just fine. What you would want to look for will depend on what you are fishing for. Although a cheap combo will work fine for the vast majority of fish

They are fantastic eating. My favorite fresh water. Their cheeks are fresh water scallops

I was using repalas with those two. I cry evertime I lose one but my favorite for everything from rainbows to walleyes. Although they have been hard to find around here.

I've caught a ton of them with the Spro Aruku Shad, it's a Dutch company that makes them so not sure if this is available in the US?

my 2 biggest walleyes were caught on deep diving reef runners in south dakota. but i have also caught some nice walleyes trolling #11 floating raps at night in arizona.

my PR zander is 86 cm (34 inch) if I recall correctly, das it mane

zander is a delicacy for sure, but I can't compare it to walleye since I never had it lol

Caught this 38 inch striper last night, was my new personal best fish and so close to my goal for the summer of landing an inshore 40" trophy














and then 20 minutes later.......


































Landed this 45 inch BEAST, fought like a motherfker and was barely hooked at the end, broke the hook on my lure, jumped in the water to go grab him. Had a heartbrak a few nights ago losing a fish this size and finally got a fish of this caliber! So excited about it, I am creating a canvas with this picture and the broken lure as memorabilia of this night, Until the day i die i will never forget this night, priceless experience. Both these fish swam off, im still smiling 20 hours later, hopefully gonna breed together lol!

Got a pretty good blue cat for the first fish in the new boat. Made the GF hold it. I have a 99lbs scale but it said overloaded and wouldn't weight it. Tested my scale at home the next day with some olympic plates and come to find it errors after 65lbs so no true weight on it.
