Does deadlifting with a belt, add to your max? I deadlift once a week with two buddies. They both wear belts, I don't.
Buddy 1 with belt - 5RM = 315lbs
Buddy 2 with belt - 5RM = 405lbs
Me with no belt - 5RM = 315lbs
I think it's harder to do it without the belt. Could I expect to achieve a higher 5RM "instantly" by wearing a belt? How much do you think I could increase from 315lbs.
Your input is appreciated.

Judging by your stats all you need to do is deadlift more/work on form and your deadlift should surpass both of your buddies very fast.
As far as the belt I personally don't get anything out of it but I've only used one a few times. I have a few friends who belt up on anything 315+ and they say it adds some poundage and helps their form.Misc Strength Crew

Thanks for the motivation Scarboro and I think if I used one, I would use it all the time, instead of only on heavy weight. Using it that way makes me feel it's more of a crutch over a safety/ form aid (personaly), even though it does seem unnecessary for light weight. I have heard it helps to increase your poundage too, so this is starting to get one sided. Thanks
I'm not trying to discredit my friend for lifting 90 lbs more than me if that's what you're implying... It's a legitimate question and I just want honest feedback from experienced powerlifters who've been on the deadlifting scene for a while. Thanks.

I honestly done see a strength increase when I wear a belt. I mainly only use a belt for safety on those heavy lifts. i usually use one 405+ when im going 10-12reps. then I use one on 495+ aswell....but mainly for safety. with 225-385, i dont use one while im repping them out 12-16rep sets. sometimes I think it's harder with a belt....because personally, I cant intake as much air before the lift. but it's all personal preference
