If you get the majority of your protein through supplements..

What actually happens? I've read everyone on here say that it's much better to get your daily protein intake from foods, which makes sense, but given the case of someone getting a majority of their protein through powder, what adverse effects will this cause?

I'm curious about this too. Do the problems stem from the fact that you're not consuming anything but protein, or is it from the protein itself?

supplements are supplements. Probably a bunch of the protein you get from the supplements will go right through you. Food stays in your body longer and has the nutrients you need for good muscle formation or whatever. Aminos and what not. Suplement is a supplement. Definition of supplement is something to add on. Not to take as a main source. It usually says that on the bottle too. So all in all.... you wont be getting the protein that you think you're getting which means not as good gains and crappier results than what you would have gotten from eating. Food is a way better source of protein than supplements. just get your food and make sure you get it good.

We won't even bring up what my total when I was 18... okay fine, we will. After 2.5yrs of training for strength at 18yo, 6'2 240lbs I had a total of over 1500lbs. But keep hittin it hard squirt.

I made those gains without the use of protein or any other kind of 'supplements'.
So your first time in the gym you decided to put on more than 4 Plates onto a bar and deadlift it. This is without ****ing your back? Ok..... Either you're lying or should be alot bigger than your avi. You don't look 50 pounds (more cut up. Im post bulk so 60 pounds after cut.) bigger than me.

    nothing.

your body cant tell teh diffrence of where protein comes from, it just breaks it down into amino acids and uses it for energy/repair muscle ect..

ofcourse stuff like red meat has iron and creatine and chicken has other micro nutrients.. but yea as long as your meeting your macros your fine no matter how much whey you take. ( in the end its just a bi product of cheese manufacturing/dairy)

not to say they're not right per say, just not super impressive for a 16yo who's been training.

Yeah that's what I said. And I'll tell you now, my best total was over double that. Umad you're weak for your size? That you pretty much just inflated your muscles without having any real strength to power them. Try to take in that I'm half a foot taller than you and my legs are the largest of my body proportionally wise. You must be assuming I'm a bodybuilder, I'm not. Just an avid weight lifter and rugby player training for speed endurance and athletics. Also, I'm only 7.5wks back into training after a LONG lay off. BRB didn't know a 51" Chest, 18" Arms, and a 33" waist at well over 200lbs was considered small.

Hey squirt you don't look so big yourself.
Right after I hit 475lbs x 1 @ 6'3 230lbs for my weightlifting final test (tied the record, but weighing 65lbs less). 2x BW Bench, better?
