Sure it may be the slower/cheesier stuff and not full on 138+, but still feels good when you can share this awesome music

OK, so I was trolling a bit with my ‘sync button’ status but let me expand with a more serious and thoughtful post about my first experience of using these players. Turned up at last night’s show to find 4 CDJ2000 Nexus rather than the usual CDJ2000s, so figured I’d have a play with the controversial button to see what all the fuss was about.
The biggest difference? Not much. Doing 100+ gigs a year has meant the actual process of keeping the records in time is relatively second nature to me anyway but these new players freed up a small amount of extra time, which I used to dig deep into the vault of my SD card, pulled out a bunch of records that I hadn’t played for years, and was also able to mix out of tracks quickly, loop stuff, and generally be more creative. All benefits my laptop DJ colleagues who’ve enjoyed sync for years have had. My set went in a few directions I wasn't expecting it to go, purely based on the vibe in the room, and I ended up playing nearly 4 hours (helped by Toronto's incredible crowd).
Cloing thought: whilst the reaction of a few is OMFG SYNC BUTTON URE FAKING URE SET I actually found the opposite was true, and I ended up playing a longer, more diverse & varied set than I would otherwise have done. I guess like many things in this wonderful world of dance music, when you dig deep and look at the subtleties & complexities of a situation, you find the reality is often rather different to the headline.

^^ the CDJ2000 didnt have sync but they had bpm counters, helps just as much imho, i played smooth on CJD's2000 the first time i tried them, had no difficulties at all
...now playing on some older mixers would be a lot harder for me i'm sure, but the point is, this ''omg sync button' talk is bs

^^Lol. I know I've posted this before, but I feel like a lot of the elitism in EDM stems from confusion about genres. I wonder what it would be like if everyone got rid of genres, and we all just listened to music based on what it sounded like.
That would probably just cause more confusion▄██▄

Great NYE. Originally was going for some resident DJs, but they were catering to the crowd too much so me and gf immediately ran over to the complex/room (same building pretty much) cause we can't stand top 40 and paid $70 for Gareth Emery. So worth it, he ended up playing 3:45 hrs instead of 3. His set was pretty similar to his other ones this year, but it was still pretty epic , way better than the housey overplayed songs in main room, and no better way to end off the year with Sanctuary, Concrete Angel (#1 trance song of the year), and Tokyo Ben Gold Remix (probably my favourite trance track of the year).
****ing guy closing for Gareth opened with Levels, not sure if serious.
Hope everyone else had as great of a time as I did.Last edited by OC23; 01-01-2013 at 10:39 PM.

The mind of a Scholar
The humility of a Monk

I've not posted in here for hundreds of pages but I often pop in when i'm looking for new music. Anyway, just logged onto twitter and saw a guy that I follow say 'its annoying that i actually like EDM more than trance/electro'. Whaaaaat.
