How about this...
pay the ****ing employees more money so we don't have to tip them?
It's especially worse when the restaurants encourage the tipping too..

how about it's up to the customers' discretion based on how well the employees do their job? the whole point of not paying them more is so that they will (ideally) make what the deserve in terms of their customer service and work ethic.
why is this so hard for people to understand?**New Jersey Crew (732)**

customers will absorb the costs of higher wage rates through meal prices. in the end you will pay the same just with ****tier service. you are the same person who will be bitching when your food takes a half hour to get to you and you cannot get a re-fill for ****, all because the place you are eating at is understaffed because instead of having 20 servers making 3 dollars an hour, they have 6 making 10. now the servers no longer have an incentive to be fast and get a table turnover because that wont effect their wages. think outside the box for a second

Why don't people understand this? It's extremely simple.
You get to directly control how much the servers get paid, instead of the restaurant charging you more and paying them a flat wage. This incentivizes good service to every single guest.
They're supposed to get the money for the work either way; this way ensures they're not a dick to you, ever.ლ(ō_ōლ)

Doesn't mean they still wouldn't do it.
Just look at To-go prices. They tend to be slightly more at most restaurants. Of course, this is also factoring in for boxes/bags/etc., but the reality is many restaurants would charge more.
The national minimum wage for servers is 2.13 an hour IIRC, and the majority follow that rule trying to make as much profit as possible. Raising prices due to an increase in server pay would most likely be a response from all these restaurants.
also, you don't tip well for ****ty service
