Well, I don't make it a habit of going to failure without a spot. However, I am familiar with, and know that I have the hooks to fall back on, as I did, I don't consider this a serious safety issue, as again, the weight isn't going to come slamming down, it's weight I am well familiar with, I know I can drop it into the hooks.
Put me on a regular bench, I would have stopped at 8.

Na na.. I just don't want it to appear as though I am some psychotic lift to failure and try to get injured kind of guy. I knew what I was doing, hence the long pause (that probably helped lead to the failure) on that last rep. I was thinking of and planning my out.. for the record, I think my dismount was pretty good... lol..
And thanks..--

Post it up, would love to see it.
Yeah, I try to update the standings each new page (30 post) so your lift will be listed then. Can you post your future entries using YouTube so we can embed them for easier viewing?
I've been really surprised that there hasn't been more entries in the 211-240 and even more surprised that there's none for the 241+.
My body weight was 210.5# this morning so I'm down 15.5# for the first 3 months of the year, If I can keep this current pace up, I'll be safely under 200# before the first half of this comp is over. I was able to bench 315 for 5 and 325 for 3 reps these past few weeks. I also singled 340 again pretty smoothly so I'm thinking I might be able to get 350 before the end of June.Last edited by Getsum; 04-01-2013 at 07:20 AM.

I'll try to post a video of my max soon (probably 295 @ 185#) but I have major trouble getting the bar to touch my chest...almost like my shoulders are too tight. The only way I can get it to touch is if I let it fall and "bounce"...otherwise, with a slow controlled movement, it just stops about 1" above. Not sure how this plays into the rules?
I"m just starting a new program today, should add 20 - 25 lbs to my max in only 7 weeks. The program worked for me in the past (250 to 275) so I'm excited about finally pushing up 315. I'm gonna make it happen.Last edited by corepuncher; 04-03-2013 at 04:37 PM.

Yea, personally, I plan to start checking it on my deload weeks. I am pretty dedicated to my program, and really don't want to negatively impact my gains by skipping a day, or whatever. Also, it's a time/schedule thing. I am sure if I had more time, I could run in mid-week and do some strength testing. Deload weeks tend to be good for that purpose -- in my situation.
Plus, we are all in the comp already. It's working time right now man ! lol.. throw them vids up May-June..
EDIT: My birthday this month, is on a deload week, maybe I'll give my self a present by throwing 300+ up.. hrmm.. hrmm...--
