i think the conventional wisdom might be a little too much on the safe side--as far its muscle sparing and growth is concerned, but I don't mind, I like to eat meat. It's also very filling, so when trying to drop fat, eating a lot of meat makes things much easier. When I transition to a bulk (soon, goddamnit, soon) I might eat a tad less than I do currently. I tend to think that if you make a protein dish the centerpiece of every meal, and have carbs and fat to taste and cravings, and keep your calories where you want to be, you'll be fine.
I haven't been at this fitness thing for very long, though.

Same here, loooong ways to go until I'm happy. I seem to get injured/sick/need surgery every 4 months or so which puts me out like 1-2 months....so it's like two steps forward, one step back lol.
I can guarantee you that I would never recover from a workout if I ate that little protein....I would be useless lol.www.xccellence.com

I think if you took in sufficient aminos you might be surprised. I'm talking more than just the branch chain aminos tho. The formula that I use has about 10.5 grams of the essentials. I work for a company that produces aminos, so I get it at a loooow price.
The price of whey will be going up in the near future (has already started to some). Which might make supplementing with aminos a more affordable option.
I do...in a sense. Free form amino's (about 10 of the EAA's) are required for maximum MPS (muscle protein synthesis). Aminos function as a protein.Just livin' the dream...
