I've heard some pretty bad things about sugar and sodium in my diet and I can't really separate the broscience from the real science. So what happens when I food with sugar and / or sodium?

you die and respawn at a random location within the fort at which point you can try to defend or attempt to capture the enemy's flag which will most likely result in a turtle which would mean you either escape or support the group which fails because the enemy scout kills you and the cycle continues....... .......wait wut?

Quality replies to a quality thread. I'll bite.
Sugar turns into energy your body uses, just like everything else. Salt is an essential electrolyte required for nearly every bodily process. Too much of either will eventually kill you.
Especially if you salt your sugar.

Thanks for the only reasonable reply on this thread. I was just asking because whenever I have around 200 calories left to fill in my macros I usually eat hersheys chocolate (or some other chocolate bar). Sugar's influence on diabetes risk is part of my concern. Other than that, I'm pretty much IIFYM just like everyone else mocking me.
Similar to the diabetes risk concern for sugar, there's also similar risk for the sodium content in salt, i guess.
Because, you know, as much as i'd like to fit 5 chocolate bars each day into my macros I'm not really sure if that's the healthiest thing to do as far as micronutrients go.
Anyone else have any positive contributions regarding sugar and salt?

If you eat too much sugar you can get diabetes. One chocolate bar isn't going to do that. We're talking people who eat junk, lots of simple carbs, low nutrition food all the time. Unless your genetics really bite you in the ass I guess. As far as sodium goes, it's best to try and keep your sodium and potassium relatively balanced. Too much salt can make you bloated and, well, thirsty. Not sure of any other negatives. High blood pressure maybe... I just avoid too much of both because they both make me tired.
Funny story, heh. I was talking to someone and they were like...
"You know that there's some chemical they add to pretzels in bars to make you more thirsty so you drink more beer?"
"Uh.... salt?"
