1/27
Trained with the boy again. We did some random ab/plyo stuff for fun, but it turned out to be kind of a badass workout.
Push Ups: 3 sets each of: pushups with feet on plyo box and hands on bosu ball/pushups with feet on plyo box and hands on small med ball
Bosu Ball Squats with 30 lb kettlebell x 4 sets
Ladder Plank walks: did a mix of these just hand walking, and several sets of doing a pushup between each rung of the ladder, and one set alternating a regular pushup with a tricep push up between the rungs
Looong day of training. Started at 5am and went through to 1pm non stop. There was good training karma in the gym today. I train an older woman, who came to me very weak and deconditioned...today she finished up her leg raises on the roman chair and a man came up to us and told her how impressed he was and what good shape she was in. Made her day; makes me happy, too.
Then the boy came back and we went to lunch, and he didn't think it at all strange that all I could eat was meat, lol.

I'm on day 8 of the keto diet. Zilla thinks after 14 days Ill start losing mass. So I'll do a cheat meal tonight and have a little bit of carbs, and then go back to the diet until Friday. Amazingly, the low cals don't bother me at all. I think I was a little short of cals yesterday..but I felt fine all day. Have lots of energy. I've trained more than was recommended, but as you can see Ive kept the volume low.
And you know I love meats. But I can only eat the leanest meats, and I can't use marinades, or sauces, or anything that has carbs in it. And it's a LOT of meat...225 grams per day is more than Ive ever eaten..."All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become." Buddha

Ive got 3 kids, remember? And I have one client to train this morning.
Well, I've got a date with the boy and we're going to some microbrewery, so I guess I'll figure it out there. Nothing crazy...Im making too much progress to screw it up with a binge rather than a cheat, lol...
Yes, the diet is not hard at all. I wish I could understand why. I haven't craved carbs at all...and Im not sure if it's the structure of the diet, or whether Im just so committed mentally that I feel stronger..."All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become." Buddha

1/20: Day 9 of keto....oh, hell I can't think of anything clever today..
Rest weekend.
Went on my date/cheat meal last night. Other than a few glasses of wine I barely had any carbs. Some kind of chicken/potsticker app. and a breaded parmesan chicken breast. For some reason I didn't even eat the potatoes that came with it...though this morning I was like, "Man, I wish I'd eaten those mashed potatoes..."
Super tired tonight...stayed out waaaaaayyy too late.
Watched the boy play soccer today. Kind of chilly but it was fun...he's a goal keep and he's got some skillz. He pulled his quad so after we went by the gym so I could roll him out...and man the boy has some legs. Strongboyisstrong. The we went by his pad to chill and it was a lovely lazy day...
5 days left on the crazy diet. I think my final weight loss number is going to be ridiculous. Sure a ton of water, but the fact that I can hold that much water is interesting in itself.."All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become." Buddha

For real, if you take carbs out of your diet you just don't crave them anymore. Carbs spike your insulin and then leads you to more cravings. That's why if you're going to do a refeed you should do it at night so you eat carbs, go to bed and are sleeping while your blood sugar spikes and you sleep through the cravings.
This mentality is what lead me to run a diet with much lower carbs... and the carbs I do eat are low GI. This time around I am not craving foods at all - I really think having an apple for lunch was killing me there. Seems like you're finding the same thing too. Aside from the no energy on the keto diet it was cake to stick too as well. Protein and fat rules! And carbs are T-R-O-U-B-L-E... but damn are they good.

LOL! I love that you call him "the boy," heehee.
That edema seemed to go on forever, how'd you finally get rid of that? Was it cutting out the carbs on keto or what?
Also, that would be so torturous to me to be able to eat all the meatz but no sauce, marinade, seasoning...... steak rub would be foreveralone.jpgCurrent PRs:
Bench Press: 200x1
Deads: 315x1
Back Squats: 275x1

Hmmmm, interesting! I've never heard, or considered this before. I do a refeed weekly but always get my carbs in before late afternoon then switch up to veggies. What you're saying does make sense, though. I'll have to give this a try.
You can do it, Boz. Bread is so overrated ..... yucky bread ..... bluckCaring about what people think of you is useless. Most people don't even know what they think of themselves.

2/1: Shoulders
Day 12 of keto
I am soooooooo tired. Not hungry, but drained and exhausted.
Clean & Presss:
10 @ 45
8@ 65
2 @ 95
1 @ 100 lbs
DB OH Pres:
2 x 10 @ 35lbs
Front raise:
2 x 12 @ 20 lbs
Lat raise on machine:
2 sets of 12...can't remember the weights..
Rear Delts: Didnt do the w/ back the other day
3 x 12 @ 40, 50, 60 lbs
Ladder walk: 2 x 4 lengths
1 x 2 lengths...the boy had the genius idea of doing the last set w/ dbs...blerg. I used the 5 lbs and it was really hard.
3 x 15 body saws...on carpet...blerg..even tougher.
2 sets of these other ab exercises the boy showed me but I forgot what they're called.
I don't think Im noticing a decrease in strength. Felt ok w/ the C&P.. But the fatigue is affecting my training. Now, Im probably training more than I should...Lyle says 2 x per week and Im training a lot more than that...hopefully not shooting myself in the foot.
So far scale is down about 16 lbs. Weight has stayed the same the past 3-4 days, so Im expecting a whoosh here before long. Last day of diet is Friday."All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become." Buddha

2/2: Arms and 2 days left of ketomania
Dropped to 153 today. That's down about 18 lbs...so, yes, for anyone doing the math I was heavy. But I took my first weigh in on a day I had super bad edema so not really a good indicatior of fat loss...kind of a bogus starting number. I can see my obliques now. Also seeing lots of cuts in my back and arms, and some quad definition.
And speaking of that I was at Lulu yesterday to look at tanks. My back is looking really wide (in a good way) and I think my shoulders are bigger.
Arms:
Preacher Curls:
3 x 10 @
20 plus ez curl bar
30 plus ez curl
20 plus ez curl
Bench Dips:
3 x 15 w/ 25, 45, 55 lbs on lap
Standing cable curl ins:
3 x 12
CGBP into Skullcrushers:
3 x 12 @ 30, 40, 40 lbs
21's
2 sets @ 15 lbs
Arms lookin swole"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become." Buddha
