Okay... Figured I'd toss this one out to you guys for fun...
So I'm laying the ground work for my Modern Rustic Cookbook... And I sort of ended up having to order this slab of bacon sooner than I was ready for in my head.
I need to come up with Additional recipes...
Must use Slab Bacon
Must be on the grill
The two I have already...
1. My remake of a grilled version of Peter Luger's Bacon
Essentially cut thick like a steak... Grilled over NUCLEAR heat served with halved grilled cherry tomatoes, provalone cheese, and maybe some Aioli on the side.
2. An amuse bouche (Single bite hor d'oeuvre) Made entirely on the grill... A Rehash of Liver and onions with bacon
Stacked like thus
Chopped Scallion
Grilled Beef Liver
Super thick piece of bacon
Grilled Ciabatta bread6'4"

Why not do some old style cast iron cooking (over grill or open fire) bacon and eggs and biscuits breakfast, stew with bacon, beans and bacon, ect.

The thought had crossed my mind to do a segment on say cooking breakfast on a cast iron griddle over charcoal. The semantics of getting just the right heat, just the right timing.
Admittedly when I'm out camping, I've always fallen back on using a PROPANE camp stove. But Egg Cookery is it's own science!
And I suppose I can't eat 9 pounds of bacon with just my wife my buddy and I in a single night!
Or can I?6'4"

See... Now here's a sub debate...
Because I have a bunch of "Bacon Wrapped" recipes that are pretty good and cool.
My debate is thus:
-If I do just thin cut preparations, I'm really taking away from the "Unique quality" of being able to find and get a full slab of bacon. (Which let me assure you is only available through a few butchers and only on a special order basis!)
So by bacon wrapping, which you can't do with epic thick bacon, I'm losing some of the EPIC side of the whole effort.
Now the Flip side of the coin... Is if I include some thin sliced (And thus wrapped) bacon recipes... I'm still leaving option open for the home cook, who can't or isn't motivated enough to hunt down a slab of bacon... And just wants to pick up a pack at the store. And it's not just "That damn Bacon chapter I can't do nothin' with)
Hmmmm...... Having just typed that out ^^^ and ran the logic through my head... I think you're right.
I'll just have to set some standard like at least 51% of the recipes in the Bacon Chapter will have to slab.6'4"

Actually it was "Salt Pork" which traveled in the frontier... But close enough.
You realize that you are leading me down the road towards one of my weak spots... Which is Cast Iron Baking in a dutch oven!
I've been thinking about a chapter on "Camp Cooking." Dutch oven burried in a pit for beans & Stews... Grill Baking... Ho-cakes... Beans... The Eggs & Bacon Breakfast.6'4"

One of my secrets is that while I might be a modern day renaissance man, with a lot of skills... But there are a few holes in my skill set... And anywhere that there is a hole... It's a black hole...

I was watching a movie last night, it was called "the Perfect getaway". It was about how these people steal identy of people and travel as them. But they run into a couple that the guy is a military badass and the woman is a born nature girl too.
He reminded me of you for some reason because he brings a goat back to camp with his after assembling his custom bow.
