You posted nothing besides a random picture showing an SUV and 2 armed individuals. How you consider that a source I will never know.
I never said they have "awesome uber vehicles and equipment". You are very much mistaken if you don't think they are well armed. End of story. Argue it all you want, you're wrong. Have fun being wrong. You seem to enjoy it as this isn't the first time.
The poorest people in the U.S. would be about equal to a 3rd World country on the 5 World model. The Republic of ****lia is a 5th World country.

"But the prison sentence given to Muse this week could have implications for the four American hostages. Pirates have turned increasingly violent in their attacks, and naval officials say pirates have begun systematically torturing hostages and using them as human shields."
"Pirates have recently tied hostages upside down and dragged them in the sea, locked them in freezers, beaten them and used plastic ties around their genitals, the commander of the European Union anti-piracy force, Maj. Gen. Buster Howes told AP this month. "
From another article. At some point, there will be a crackdown on piracy.

Doesn't matter what its a product of, you unbelievably stupid mother fuker. They rob and kill innocent people..that makes them thieves and murderers. Sorry, but thats the brakes bud. If you're going to debate that robbing and killing innocent people isn't robbery and murder then...I guess I have no idea what else to say.

a former SEAL told me that the ****li pirates were apparently going to have the hammer dropped on them before an order from the top cancelled the op due to media attention.
let's hope the current admin follows through with the plan
You cant exactly blame the pirates. They have literally no other source of income and if they dont do this, then they would die. I would do the same thing if i were in their place and so would you probably

I certainly agree with you that ****lian people have been exploited both by internal and external forces over the course of the past couple decades. However, take a look at this map.
http://www.icc-ccs.org/index.php?opt...map&Itemid=219
Don't maritime boundaries only extend a few hundred miles away from coast? Many attacks are made way outside of ****lia's boundaries. And while initially, one could argue that the money ransomed could be spent on food and other necessities, this is certainly no longer the case. Most of the actual "pirates" are young men, who are easily impressionable by money. They get a cut of the loot, and go home and spend it on useless crap to show off in their respective communities. Not only that, but most of the money goes to war lords who just invest it in more piracy.
Empathy doesn't equal condoning their actions though. How is this different from a drug dealer in a chitty neighborhood? Both are products of their environment, and both should expect to deal with the consequences.
And to your point about further adding insult to injury. In these cases, there are 2 basic options:
1) Pay the ransom - Not a smart move at all unless completely necessary. It's like feeding a whining dog, they'll just keep coming back for more and more.
2) Deal with them accordingly - More and more likely with each new attack.

instead of spending thousands in millitary operations to rescue hostages, why not use that money to solve the actual cause of the problem, ****li pirates commit "crime" becouse they have no other choise, maybe aiding theire economy would be more beneficial that sending a warship to kill them every month or two...
im no expert but just sending a rescue team there must be pretty expensive, not to mention ineficient, they may kill the pirates but many more will replace their spot unless the problem is solved.

ever heard of prevention being better than cure. Let my try and put this in as simplistic terms as I can. No amount of aggression will ever stop the actions of pirates capturing vessels of the coast. And seeing as it is an important shipping route, you wont find companies not using the route anytime soon. The crux of the problem is the instability of mainland ****lia. The you have the issue of ****li fisherman being driven from their source of income buy foreign vessels taking liberties and the dumping of toxic waste on these shores. For every successful capture of a pirate ship there are about 5 which are not so successful and often end up in companies paying millions of dollars to ensure the safety of the crew.
You have no idea what to say because you are a buffoon who has chose to comment on an issue he does not have even a remote grasp of and has done nothing but blare out ignorant and obtuse statements about the which provide insight into nothing except the extent of your own stupidity. Leave the intelligent discussion to the big kids brah.@markokaforfitness
