NFL football has the best athletes period. Strong, fast, explosive, skilled, etc...
edit: decathlon
The modern event is a set combination of athletic disciplines, testing an individual's strength, speed, stamina, endurance and perseverance; it includes five events on each of two successive days. The emphasis of the first day is on speed, explosive power, and jumping ability; the second emphasizes technique and endurance.[citation needed]
Day 1
* 100 metres
* Long jump
* Shot put
* High jump

It depends what you mean by best....if you mean the most difficult sport, I would have to say either boxing or running. Because the pain involved in both of those is sickening.
Boxers keep at it until they're bleeding and it's not uncommon to break a nose.
And runners often run so hard that they're puking at the finish line.Last edited by Chubbs387; 11-22-2010 at 06:30 AM.

great post. but i wouldnt trust that thing. gymnastics requires more endurance than american football????? baseball durability is only 5.63 but its a 4+hour game for 8 months out of the year, with less than 4 days off a month???????? boxing has endurance and power at 8.63 yet it is scientifically been proven that power and endurance are (physically) polar opposite and if u are high in 1 then the other is automatically low [which is why usain bolt will never win a marathon (no matter how hard/long he trained)] ?????????? strength,power,speed and agility are all correlated yet weight lifting has a 9 in stength and power but has a 2 in speed and agility????????? and it only has 3 in flexibility yet non of those other athletes can get in a full overhead squat (let alone with 2x bodyweight over their head)?????? they even put golf has more flexebility than oly weightlifting.
clearly they r more flexible than:
Just being subjective. not trying to pun any1.-we are what we repeatedly do. therefore, excellence is not an act but a habit.

I'd have to say an ironman triathalon is about as tough as it gets.
2.4 mi. swim • 112 mi. bike • 26.2 mi. run
Non stop exertion for 4+ hours. You burn 9000+ calories during one of those.
That being said, every sport has their areas of athleticism that are greater than other sports. American football & Rugby put such a beating on your body. Basketball & Soccer is non stop running while using esential skills. Ice Hockey is a strong mix of those two classes. MMA is a whole other area as well. I think they don't compare to how hard an ironman is, but the sport skills are leaps and bounds above the ironman, and that plays a part for sure.
I take all that back. PBAers are the real athletes....Your freedom to be you includes my freedom to be free from you. -AW

im tired of hearing about rugby players or some other garbage person like quote: a bull rider, a golf caddie or a fisherman fishing for goldfish.
not only r decathlons just good at:
* 100 metres
* Long jump
* Shot put
* High jump
* 400 metres
* 110 metres hurdles
* Discus throw
* Pole vault
* Javelin throw
* 1500 metres
but they r great at each and every1 of those events.if decathlons isnt up at the top of ur "most athletic" list then u obviously dont know sports and athleticism. i dont mind people putting martial artist, soccer, or whatever; but stop with the rugby/american football argument.
seriously stop feeding the trolls. its his first post. and its a troll post cant u tell????? i already linked the old thread. dang man.Last edited by boykid28; 11-22-2010 at 06:17 PM. Reason: forgot
