Usually, my lower back is very sore the next day when deadlifting. I usually follow an extensive warmup for deadlifts, for example I'll do:
135x10
225x10
275x5
315x5
365x3
405x1
then 3RM (right now it's 420x3)
However, yesterday I tried something new:
135x5
315x3
405x1
425x3
465x1
I have pretty much no soreness at all in my lower back today... Is that a good or bad thing?

Soreness is not in any way an indicator of a good or bad workout. People tend to get sore when they do something they haven't done recently. Generally, people stop getting sore after working out consistently for 3 weeks (or at least get much less sore after that point). Nobody understands what causes soreness but there's nothing to indicate it can indicate the quality of one's workout sessions (at least that I know of).
