based on this article cardio has neg effects for fat loss

" Another difference between weight training and cardio training is the type of hormonal environment they promote. Weight training tends to put the body in an anabolic state and encourages muscle mass gain (if eating a higher calorie diet, which won't be the case when you're aiming for fat loss) or muscle maintenance (which is applicable here).

Cardio training, on the other hand, promotes higher levels of cortisol release, and this is the primary hormone that does encourage lean muscle mass loss, as well as fat accumulation around the abdominal region. "

i was reading through bb.com articles and came across this article referenced above, i found this quite disturbing as based on the article cardio is deemed ineffective for fat loss esp if your trying to keep muscle mass however many people rave on and on how cardio is the key for fat loss.. so now im confused??

    "(Low reps/heavy weight) + clean diet - (high reps/light weight) + (cardio x 3) = muscle definition"

I do it anyways because it feels good, no negative effects on my part so far.

I dont see much runners, swimmers etc that have fat bellies.

If......the article is correct, i still would do cardio even if I lose muscle, better trade-off for better health and a healthier heart in the long run.

Did a diet with mainly cardio a few years back. Felt good, lost weight. How can you accumulate fat if you're under deficit and sweating all over?

True, but lots of runners are really weak and frail looking, particularly long distance runners....no fat but also no muscle either. I think short intense cardio sessions are the way to go, of course different things work for different people.

I lost 135 pounds of fat with Cardio and I love it. I didn't feel weak when I started weights at all so I'm sticking to it. Watch next year they'll change their story.

OMG I have 35 to my goal and it seems it's NEVER going to happen.

Marathon runner's and the such need to be as light as possible, lighter the better for their sport. That's one of the reason they look that way. I enjoy 30min high intensity cardio or 40-45min moderate intensity, I found the shorter the better for me.

"It does encourage lean muscle mass loss" <--- This is what you need to worry about from this; not the OMG I DO CARDIO AND I LOSE FAT SO WTF!?!?

"as well as fat accumulation around the abdominal region [if you were in a caloric surplus]."

This is directed to the people that say, bah it works for me! I LOSE FAT DOING CARDIO!

For the record: I don't care if you do/don't do cardio I was just informing you guys that you aren't comprehending what you read. It annoys me.
