The power of acceptance
Sometimes the best way to free yourself from a burden is to accept it. Much of the destructive essence of any burdensome situation comes from fighting against it. Once you stop fighting, you can start progressing.

Certainly if there is a threat you protect yourself against it. But there is no point in fighting against what already is. When you accept the situation, that is the starting point at which you begin to make the most of it. When you can go beyond acceptance into sincere gratitude, you take on a powerful positive momentum.

In short, accept what is, then find something positive about it. Even the most desperate situation has its positive aspects and possibilities. You'll uncover them only after you've accepted that the situation exists. Acceptance is not surrender. It is the recognition of reality. By clearly seeing what is, by acknowledging and even being grateful, you can move things forward toward the way you would like them to be.

I used to post the Daily Motivator in my journal,and had a lot of positive feedback on them. So i have decided to continue that, in a thread all its own.
I hope they help encourage the people that take the time to read them.
I know, personally, that i have read several of them and they pertained so something i was dealing with that day.

Great experience

Experience is something that can never be taken away from you. Though the material things you possess will rust, fade, peel, crack, break and become obsolete, the experiences you live through will stay with you always.

Every day is filled with so many opportunities to experience the richness of life. Yet it's all too easy to get into comfortable habits and fail to take advantage of those opportunities.

The greatest treasures you'll ever have are the moments you spend living life fully, moments spent with those you love and care about, moments lived passionately in pursuit of a vision, a dream or an accomplishment.

As you go through this day, keep in mind what an incredible, irreplaceable, great experience life is. Wherever you go, whatever your circumstance, fill the moments with meaning and richness. Today is a special day, a day to be alive. Live it with joy, with wonder and intensity. Your great experience is happening now

Calm your thoughts
Have you ever noticed how much your own thinking can often interfere with your awareness? You've probably had the experience of failing to hear what someone is saying to you because you're busy thinking of how to answer them.

There is a time for thinking, for questioning and judgment, for analyzing and strategizing, and there is a time for opening yourself up to experience the world around you. You are well equipped to think, and you are also equipped to listen, to feel, to see, to experience.

Thoughts can be powerful. The absence of thoughts can be powerful as well. Many things are annoying, for example, simply because you think they're annoying. What grand and beautiful things might lie hidden underneath the relentless noise of your own thoughts?

Pursue your thoughts with vigor, and when the situation calls for it, let your thoughts be still. Strength and wisdom come not only from excitement and complexity, but also from a quiet and peaceful awareness of what is.

Relax even now
You can relax right now. Relaxation does not have to wait until the weekend or vacation time. For the most part, life is not an emergency, though too many of us live each hour of each day as if it is. Whatever you are doing, whatever deadlines you are working against, relax.

Frenzy and anxiety accomplish nothing other than raising your blood pressure and making you more prone to mistakes. Sure, you have a lot to get done today, and the list continues to grow. So take a deep breath, relax, and get to work at a sure and steady pace.

Relaxation does not require a lack of activity. Just about anything that can be done in a state of anxiety can be done even more effectively in a state of relaxation. Being frantic will not get anything accomplished. Being focused will. Decide to relax and it will happen. Whatever you're doing, relax right now, and find true enjoyment in getting it done.

Perceptions
What if your limitations were all an illusion? What if you were being held back, not by your circumstances, but by your mind? Though it is easy to recognize the perceptual bias of another, your own perceptions are more difficult to distinguish from reality.

In many ways the world you see is of your own making. Consider what that could mean. The obstacles you perceive may not really be there if you could get your mind beyond them. The limitations against which you struggle could be gone the instant you change your viewpoint.

What may appear to be cold, hard, immutable reality could melt away and be transformed by the power of your own perceptions. Though it is foolish to ignore reality, it is tragic to be frozen by it.

What if you could change the world and didn't know it? What if you suddenly figured it out? Look beyond the obvious. Look beyond your assumptions. Step outside the window of your perceptions and marvel at the vastness of possibility.

Another Approach
When one approach is not working to reach the desired goal, that's not a reason to abandon the goal. Instead, it is time to devise another approach. Sometimes the objective and the means to that objective become so intertwined that it is difficult to imagine one without the other. Yet there are many different ways to reach any particular goal, given enough persistence and creativity.

That's why, for those who are able to consistently get things done, there is no such thing as failure. There are only approaches which have been proven ineffective.

There is a way to achieve whatever you desire, even when you've already fallen short of the mark. There is a way to do it. That way may not be obvious. It may well require some skillful, creative thinking. It's there, though. Learn from each attempt, learn from each approach and you'll surely discover one that works spectacularly.

The direction of strength
It's helpful to visualize strength as something that flows only in a positive, creative direction. When you go along in the same direction, your strength increases. When you move in the other direction, whatever strength you have will quickly disappear.

Apply your strength toward positive and productive ends, and that strength grows. Use your strength for destructive purposes, and you'll see that strength drained away.

Are you going in a direction that's making you stronger? Or are you struggling against the current of your own positive possibilities? When you feel yourself losing strength, it's time to reconsider your direction.

Turn toward excellence. Turn toward goodness, integrity, and accomplishment. Turn toward being the best you can be, and feel your strength grow with each passing day.

Ability and commitment
Greatness most often results not from extraordinary ability, but rather from ordinary ability followed through with extraordinary devotion. Commitment, depth of passion and clarity of purpose will elevate even the most ordinary, mundane efforts into the realm of truly great achievement.

Exceptional ability is a wonderful gift, though by itself it won't get you very far. More important than ability are desire and commitment. Without them, ability is useless. With them, any shortage of ability can be overcome.

Everyone alive has plenty of passion, though too often the true identity of that passion lies hidden. When you make the effort to understand and solidly connect with your passion, the result is an unyielding level of commitment to fulfilling that passion.

Whatever your level of ability, it will take you wherever you desire to go when energized with passion and commitment.

Positive values
Rather than lamenting what you do not have, make the most of what you do have. Rather than being stopped by what you cannot do, move forward by doing what you can do. Instead of agonizing over the past or worrying about the future, make sure that right now you are the very best you can be.

Put your attention and your effort where they count. Use your energy and your time where they can make the biggest positive difference. Being positive is more than just repeating happy phrases. Being positive means living positive. Being positive means seeing the possibilities for improvement and advancement in every situation, and acting on them.

Being positive means doing what is necessary and right even if it is not easy or popular. Positive values are more than just platitudes. Sincere positive values result in effective positive actions. And those actions will bring real, lasting and substantial achievement.

Growing past disappointment
Each disappointment in your life will continue to weigh you down only until you learn and accept what that it has to teach you. The moment a disappointment becomes a learning and growing experience is the moment in which it is transformed into a triumph.

The chance to learn from your shortcomings and grow out of your disappointments is one of the richest opportunities you can ever experience. Adversity is a thorough, effective and highly personalized teacher. The powerful lessons learned in the midst of disappointment will stay with you always.

When you can bring yourself to be grateful for your problems you'll begin to harvest their positive value. Life is difficult; out of that difficulty grows meaning and beauty. In each disappointment is the seed of fulfillment. Learn what it has to teach and you'll be moving yourself forward.

living with it

you'll only live this day once, yet you will live with it for the rest of your life. Today you have the opportunity to take action, to make things happen, to create, to express yourself, to be with those you love, to experience the beauty that's around you.

Stumbles and frustrations
The stumbles you endure on the way to the top of the mountain do not make the view from the summit any less magnificent. In fact, they make it more precious and full of meaning.

Learn from your mistakes and move forward. Each mistake, each frustration has within itself the power to stop you once. Don't add to that power by allowing it to continue stopping you. Get on past it and never look back. It's relatively easy to get past the frustrations. There's no sense in making it more difficult by adding your own regret.

The main value of any accomplishment comes from the effort with which it is reached. That's why diamonds, which are rare and difficult to find, are far more valuable than the pebbles which can be found anywhere.

The stumbles, the mistakes, the frustrations, the difficult efforts all serve to create value in the accomplishment which is sought. Take them in stride. You can get through them and you will, on your way to achieving exactly what you desire.

Be you
The surest way to make a good impression is to be yourself. After all, being you is what you do best. You have a great deal of experience at it. The surest way to look like a fool is by attempting to impress others with something you're not.

Success comes not from pretense. Success comes from substance. Perhaps you think the substance of your life is not that impressive. If so, you're completely and absolutely wrong!

You are overflowing with substance and value and it will show if you'll just let it. Your own experiences, thoughts, interests, knowledge, passions, desires, integrity and sense of humor, among many other things, set you apart and make you truly special.

You are wonderful and you are worthy. The power of substance comes from being who you are. Be you. It is your destiny. The world is waiting to joyfully throw its arms around the genuine, valuable person you know you are.

Do you really want to ditch them? I have bad experiences in my past (as does everyone), but honestly, they made me what I am today. I have no regrets.

LBM, I love these posts!

On a slightly related topic to this: the problem with the 'past makes me the person i am today' is that it's become a cliche for many for justifying mistakes they could have avoided... so in many cases there actually should be plenty to regret, and writing off extreme crap in your past as 'learning experiences' is in my opinion just a sign of weakness. Im sure if you ask most criminals they would say they regret doing it (or you)

Something will grow
Something will grow in the garden of your life today. Will it be an unsightly weed or a beautiful flower? Will it be what you've planned and created by your thoughts and actions, or will it simply be what you've allowed by your carelessness and lack of clear direction.

Whatever you plant will grow in the fertile ground that is today. Fail to plant, fail to tend the garden, and something will still grow there. But it probably won't be to your liking.

Walking through a neighborhood, it is easy to spot the gardens which are carefully and lovingly tended. They're the bright and bountiful ones. Likewise, a life that's well tended is filled with the bright, beautiful rewards of that care and effort.

What will grow in your life today? The fertile ground is waiting for the seed of your purpose and the care of your commitment. Today you can grow something of value and beauty. Just decide to make it so right now.

Today is awesome
See this day with the awe it deserves. It is a blessing with no equal. Today is an opportunity, an adventure, a challenge, a glorious experience filled with enlightenment and wonder.

A single day in your present-day life would have been an unimaginable, once-in-a-lifetime experience for even the mightiest king of 500 years ago. Consider the depth and extent of the richness which spreads out before you, within your grasp. What a great time to be alive!

How will you make the most of this grand existence which is condensed into the day you now behold? You can think. You can reason. You can move about. You can take action. And you can do all these things with a directed purpose. You can make a difference today. Though this day is awesome indeed, it's nothing compared to what you can make of it.
