Assuming you could keep up with it, is an almost all-egg diet OK? (unless you prescribe to the idea that diet cholesterol is bad, in which case eggs are horrible)
This week I've been eating 3-4 eggs every meal. I cook them in butter or olive oil. In addition, I have about 400-500 calories of walnuts everyday. I also eat vegetables and the occasional berries. And I drink insane amounts of coffee.
I eat out with friends about 4x a week, which ups my calorie a lot, but doesn't affect my weight loss since I'm pretty strict at home.
I'm trying to lose weight ASAP, but without completely jacking up my health.

I think you'd get really gassy with this diet.
But no, too much fat just eating eggs. Have eggs, maybe breakfast and dinner, but you need vegetables. Basically you're doing the "Orange Juice Diet" (or any other fad diet you see in the checkout stand at the supermarket..."Lose 10 pounds in a week!") if you only eat one thing. to me eggs are great for breakfast or lunch but to eat them alot more than that would b a mistake....for every gram of protien an egg has there is an equal gram of fat 1 large cooked egg has about 6gs of protien and 6 gs of fat
have about 3-4 a day and ur good but try mixing ur diet up with other things
just tried this today: 3 hardboiled eggs sliced and grounded with a fork...add in about half a cup of cottage cheese...sprinkle with black pepper and voila u got a DELICIOUS and very healthy egg salad thats easy to make and high in protien
Fat-12g
Carbs-4g
Protien-27g

you need to have a good balanced diet.
6 meals a day and you need to count how many calories you are eating and how much from what you're getting your calories
so i eat 2500 calories a day and 45% comes from protein/ 35% from carbs/ and 20% from fats.
1g of protein = 4 calories
1g of Carbs = 4 calories
1g of Fat = 9 calories
1g of Alcohol = 7 calories.
Keep your alcohol down to a minimum or to 0 since it can really pack on the pounds easily.
Remember 6-7 meals a day, but keep them small but filling. if you need any more help feel free to ask.~Misc Shaved Head Crew~

Ive done the whole egg diet adding a bit of vege's and nuts to the day..
Usually coming around to 30 full eggs per day, I rate it. Eggs are pretty much perfect ratios for me on the keto diet and are easy to cook, consume and are absoloutely crammed with nutrients..
Bad gas? Bullshi# not for me I was fine

I can't believe that consistently eating 30 eggs a day for an extended period of time is good for you, no matter what the macro breakdown is.

im just thinking out loud here,
eating out four times a week is not even close to an ALMOST all egg diet. if you are so dedicated to losing weight that you would eat eggs so strictly, why would even have butter in your house not to mention use it?
just some tips because you said you want to lose weight ASAP, do with them what you like.
-stop using butter
-dont eat the yolks
-if you must eat out, once you get your meal, ask for a to go container
put at least half of your meal in the container for another day, resturant
servings are way to much, especially if you are trying to lose weight fast
and you eat out four times a week
-walnuts/almonds are a good snack but 500 cal worth might be a bit much
-try drinking green tea instead of coffee every now and then
-you shouldnt starve or eat just eggs for meals, if you get too hungry you
will find yourself binging
-instead of lacking calories at home and getting too many at resturants try
to even it out over the week
Good Luck Ma'am and i hope to hear about your success!!!!Last edited by X-TRAsmedium; 02-25-2009 at 06:31 AM.

i have been on egg diet for sometime ... i had been consuming hard boild 8eggs white in morning with 1 yolk+ musele then in lunch 8egg white + 1 yolk (some kind of preparation) then 8egg white + 1yolk & salad again for evening meal and then again 8egg white + 1yolk & salad again for dinner.. let me tell you i could go more than 1 week with this.. first thing.. i just got too bored with eggs and secondly eggs have too much heat in them.. so i started having heat boils. so you need to get variations in your diet to keep you going on.

If you are at all concerned about the cholesterol, stop using butter and only use the olive oil. Oil oil helps keep bad cholesterol levels low, butter will ass even more to your diet! How many servings of fruits and veggies are you adding? I'd worry about lack of fiber in this diet.
The other thing about this sort of diet is that it cannot be maintained for life. You will eventually have to learn to just simply cut calories, otherwise you will gain everything back again once you stop the egg diet. You will eventually have to learn about portion control etc. I found that recording my calories in fitday.com was really useful to help me with this. It makes you realize how you gained weight in the first place, by showing you what foods bring you over your calorie allowance for the day.

I guess I don't think of butter as garbage. The french use butter in everything and they don't have a weight issue. I use butter everyday and have never noticed it adding anything but flavor. I think using a combination of healthy fats from dairy, EVOO and nuts/seeds is the best way to have a balanced diet
I think butter gets a bad rap but Ive read many articles that says the contrary (in moderation, like anything of course)[Stickam Crǝw]

I used to do a semi keto diet (i say semi because i only stuck to it half the time) and had a lot of eggs. Infact to the point where i couldnt stand eggs, i was really put off by them and didnt eat them for a few months. I like them again now but too much of one thing is pretty hard to follow if you ask me.
I would rather live on nice tasting proteins shakes for a month or 2 for quick fat loss.

yea, if her only carbs are berries, the walnuts/dark greens will have less than 2g net carbs per serving, she's likely going to stay under 30-40g net carbs day....very keto-esque diet...I'll go through ~6 whole eggs/day on a keto diet, I can't afford to eat egg whites on my budget...I do so much cardio and my BP still stays at 115/60 with a 44 resting HR...i'm still young :P
and bad gas? have you ever tried keto? you're lucky to fart once in the day and maybe poop every 2-3 days...even then its pretty weak...oh good time, sorry GIRLS ITTEat Clean Snatch & Jerk

Me thinking, we have different goals and standards for ourselves. People say that table sugar is okay to have in modertion. I want to have good health as well as look good, so i try to stay away from anything that is "not that bad as long as you eat it in moderation".
So for you it is okay, but for me, like i said, better ways out there to get healthy fat.

Look dont get all pissed off but you said you eat out 4 times a week with your friends and you admit that it ups your calorie count a lot. You say it does not affect your weight loss because your strict at home? Guess what... this does affect your weight loss. As a matter of fact I would venture to say it down right eliminates it. Go ahead and neg me but here it goes im going to break it down for you...
YOUR NOT TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT ASAP....you like the idea of losing weight you think it would be awesome but your doing nothing to do so...and I doubt your ready to DO WORK
YOUR diet of eggs and butter only makes you feel better about the fact that you eat out most of the week. It does nothing to help you lose weight.
Not ever person can be fit...maybe your not cut out for it? Maybe this will light a fire under your ass.....

Jugriggs has a good point. If the OP is that serious about weight loss they would stop eating out so often, i dont know many people that eat out 4 times a week, i dont see how once a week would hurt too much though. And if you eat out once a week it gives you something to look forward to at the end of each week of strict dieting and exercise. Cant be bad for metabolism either.
Would i be stupid to recommend the Velocity Diet for fast weight loss?
