OK, this is not meant to start a religious diatribe or conversation unless it's about good things that come in life.
You all know I've been a bit down (a bit down?) about finances and things being tight. OK, it could be worse if I didn't have a job.
But this coming week was going to be particularly tight, as in "what do I go food shopping with?
Just out of boredom this morning I cleaned out my jewelry box, which contained all manner of old junky pieces of gold chains, high school and college rings, a few other gold rings, some silver rope chains. No one ever wants to buy old school rings (they meant nothing to me).
There is a jewelry store nearby that advertises they buy all manner of old unused jewelry, no matter the condition. Just bring it in and they sort it all out and test it.
The guy is weighing the pieces by type (10K, 14K, silver) and writing some things down. I would be happy with $25-30. He tallies it up, shows it to me and says "How is three ninety?" My heart sank. $3.90? No, $390 and he says "aah, I'll make it $400". I sign a receipt and he counts out 4 $100 bils. I shook his hand, thanked him and walked out with the most idiotic grin on my face.
Now I find a check in the mail for >$200 which was the insurance reimbursement for Rio's vet visit.
I'll sleep tonight.

Good for you, make sure to treat yourself to a little something if you have any cash left after you take care of bills and stuff.
It may be a small world but I'd hate to have to paint it.

That reminds me of a saying I read recently, something to the effect of "if we all threw our troubles in a big heap and had to receive whatever was divied up equally, most of us would be happier just dealing with the trouble we have right now."
I don't completely get that, it makes sense on the surface but probably part of it is because we're better at dealing with familiar evils than unknown evils. But whatever, if it made perfect sense, it wouldn't be wisdom...

What a lot of people do not take away from religion is that you need to give to receive....but also you must be open to receiving in order to have enough to give.
