    Starting strength chins/pull ups/dips ?

    ok im doing starting strength tomorrow and i was wondering since im going for more strength than size should i be doing 3x5 pull up/chins/dips or 3x8? sticky says 3x8 but wouldnt it be better with 3x5 or no?

    If you are just starting out on the program you sholdn't do anything but the main exercises. Once you are more used to the program and need to add accessories to drive your strength gains (say a month or so in) after they low down. Then you could add them in as Rippetoe recommends 3x15 and weight them to stay at no more than 15.

    i thought it was 2x8 for dips and chins add weight once u hit 12 rep range.

    holy ****. doing 3 sets of 15 wide grip pull ups. insane.

    well im not a complete noob lol ive been lifting for 4 1/2 years 2 1/2 years seriously, 192ish lbs 11ish% bodyfat and bench 225 squat about 275 and same with deadlift just because i just started to do them, anyways everyone said to do starting strength since i wanted to gain strength more than size and im only 18 and i think my body can still recover fast so i figured id try SS while i have quick recover time and i can do body weight 12 dips easily then about 10 and 8 and wide pull ups i can do 10 then about 5 and 4 at body weight and chins is like 11 or 12 then 7 or 6 and then about 5 at body weight
