CountryMike and the folks at Magnum Nutraceuticals were kind enough to hook me up with two bottles of Tonic, one of their testosterone boosting products. I have logged Magnum products in the past and am a huge fan of the company and the people behind it. I had great experience with them last time and have high expectations this time.
As a matter of letting everyone who looks at this a little background on me, here are a few pieces of personal info:
I’m 33 years old. I’m an attorney and father of two girls (Ava, 5 1/2; and Charlotte almost two). I have an amazing wife and hope my girls turn out like her. I played baseball for 4 years in college and grew up in the “Varsity Blues” atmosphere as a Texas high school quarterback.
I learned to lift in junior high in off-season football (which also coincided with basketball and track, but football was king, so you lifted for football, then went to basketball or track, or baseball after the football workout was done).
During college, I had access to great facilities and an excellent strength and conditioning coach (I miss those carefree days…).
I lifted and ran intermittently during law school and didn’t really ever lift again while studying for the bar exam and for the first 4 years that I practiced. 3 1/2 years ago, 20lbs overweight and out of shape, I changed firms. The building I’m now in has a gym attached and, as part of our lease, we have memberships to the gym (http://daclub.com/). It's one hell of a facility. I started going and was hooked again. I have gone from 26% body fat to 11.4% and lost about 20lbs. As a result, I am no longer on any medication for cholesterol.
Due to long hours at the office, committments at home, church, and kid activities, I don’t have the time to have long training sessions, so for me, training is all about INTENSITY. That is the keyword. I think the two words that describe my personality are intensity and enthusiasm.
I hope in following this log, you will see that kind of intensity and enthusiasm plus a quality supplement like Magnum Tonic and solid eating plan will lead to leanness and strength. I have confidence that this combination will lead to great things.
My current physical stats are 5'10", 174lbs., with 13.7% bodyfat.
Thanks again to Mike and and the fine folks at Magnum for the opportunity.
I am happy to have any comments/constructive criticism/questions, so fire away.
Thanks for checking in with your favorite, OCD, West Texas attorney.

Day 1 of Tonic-PHAT Week 11-Upper Power
Today was my first day of Tonic. I took my first pill this morning and my second about 15 minutes before I went to the gym. I'll take the last before bed. I can't wait to see how my body reacts to it.
This is also week 11 of the PHAT program.
The weekend was a blast. The weather was perfect. We got out some tennis on Saturday, cleaned out the garage, and lots of fun stuff around the house with the girls, like the white-trash water park (slip ‘n slide, wading pools, and waterslide using the swing set).
It appears that my youngest is taking after me. During the opening prayer at church yesterday, with the entire sanctuary quiet, she yells, “Oh Crap!”…twice.
Today was upper body power day, so after a good warm-up, here’s what went down:
• Hammer Strength Hi rows 3 sets of 5 reps-160, 165, 170 per arm
• Weighted Pull ups 2 sets of 6-10 reps-+60
• Neutral grip pull ups 2 sets of 6-10 reps-+60
• Flat barbell presses 225x10, 235x8, 245x6
• Decline BB Press 2 sets of 10 reps-185
• Standing BB shoulder presses 3 sets of 10 reps-115
• Alternating DB curls 3 sets of 8 reps-45s
• Cable pushdowns 3 sets of 10 reps-140
Hit the locker room for a shower, and back to the office for some lunch and back to the grind…
Have an awesome week.

Congrats on the progress with your body comp test. Are you using calipers or how are you measuring that?

Day 5 of Tonic-Week 11 of PHAT-Chest/arms hypertrophy day
Today was another solid and intense day of training. I’m starting to feel it in my joints and have been somewhat achy. I think I’ll do a deload for the next week or two to get back making gains. Yesterday was an impromptu rest day, and today was chest and arm hypertrophy day, so after a good warm-up, here’s what went down:
• Flat barbell presses-6 sets of 3 explosive reps with 30 seconds rest-185 with the addition of bands
• Incline dumbbell presses-3 sets of 15 reps-60
• Hammer strength chest press-3 sets of 15 reps-60 per arm
• cable flyes-2 sets 25-40
• Dumbbell alternating curls-3 sets of 15 reps-30
• EZ bar preacher curls -2 sets of 15 reps-55
• Single arm cable curls -2 sets of 25 -30
• v-bar tricep extension -3 sets of 15 reps-120
• extensions with rope attachment-2 sets of 15 reps
• Cable kickbacks-2 sets of 20-30
47 minutes and done!
Ava has her first basketball game tomorrow. I’m looking forward to seeing how she does. I bet it will be entertaining at the least.
Time to recover and prepare for my Saturday morning tennis match with the missus…

Thanks for the updates. Everyone needs a good deload every now and then... and a slip 'n slide? Wow I wish the weather would cooperate long enough here to even contemplate something like that. Definitely sounded like a lot of fun though.
