Sounds like a noob question but this is serious. Would you be able to gain muscle if you are eating 1g of protein per lb of BW and eating at maintenance calories?

They can't. Excess calories do not increase the bodies ability to synthesize protein or build muscle they just turn into fat. The reason 95% of the teen section bulks is unknown to me, I guess they do it because they see all these bodybuilders doing it but what they don't understand is that these guys do it on AAS which gives them an abnormal ability to build muscle.
The way I see it it works like this
Professional bodybuilder=abnormal amount of testosterone=abnormal muscle building capabilities=abnormal diet with a very high caloric intake.
Normal person=natural testosterone being produced by the body=natural muscle building capabilities=eating these excessively high caloric diet body can only use up certain amount the rest is gone to waste (aka your belly)
No hate just my .02 cents not saying bulking/cutting is totally stupid it can actually be beneficial to eat loads of food specially if you are a hardgainer. I personally don't do it because I like to look good year round not for just a contest and i just can't deal with having a very high bodyfat. But hey Lee Priest is swole and he does it so some people will do it too.

people always make statements like this. they never have any idea how much they actually ate or how many calories they were actually burning.
it is possible to gain some muscle while eating near maintenance, but it is far from optimal and probably wont cut it once you have a decent amount of muscle.
regardless, if you want to gain muscle, eat food. if you want to be 150lbs like most of the people who are anti-bulking, go for it. you will remain lean and small.

lol at me going to deep red because of Born2grow neg to my post. Born2grow says "might be my most worthy neg of the day...thank you for being stupid enough to say that all excess calories turn into fat" I don't really mind much this rep system is entirely BS. It's not fair that because someone does not understand what i'm saying negs me once and gets me to red like im some kind of troll or something. Born2grow please reread my post maybe you will understand it better. I never said muscle will be built out of thin air i just said that eating abnormally high calories will NOT make your body synthesize more or build more muscle.

wow still trying to spread your "lets all be fat!" views?
i havent been on in about a month and as soon as i sign on, you are saying the same thing you say in all of your posts.
why dont you stop hating on the leaner teens and worry about yourself. if any one needs criticism, its you for being very overweight and trying to recruit new members to your obese club.
