Sorry if a repost but:
"Powerlifting icon and Westside Barbell owner Louie Simmons (220) was back on the platform on Saturday for the SPF Cell Block Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. The 63-year-old Simmons racked up a 1,850 pound total that included lifts of 725, 455 and 670 pounds.
His total is good for 39th on the Powerlifting Watch Lifter Rankings and his deadlift ranks him eighteenth."
I know he is shooting up enough drugs that lil' wayne would be impressed, but still. pretty strong for an old guy!

His dedication is what keeps me impressed. And his usage of anabolics :P

so, because he totaled 1850 at the age of 63 and just returned from an injury, he does anabolics? maybe its called decades of training, diet, willpower? maybe he really juices and such. but, not everyone who pulls 600+ is on juice and such. ignorance is bliss....

no hate bro. but your really a naive individual. a fraction of a percent of the population has the genetic capability to, for example, deadlift over 600 pounds. you could train your whole life and never get it.
especially at age 63. there isnt a shadow of a doubt that he is chemically assisted.<HTC>

he's never made it a secret, but why does it have to be brought up here? it's still a great accomplishment at his age- hell, even if you don't bring his age into it.

this thread was solely about that being pretty impressive. the guy has openly said he's on gear for decades and claims anyone lifting anything over 1000 lbs is clearly enhanced. get YOUR facts straight. nonetheless he's a beast.
and thus the disclaimer. i never saw the posts, calm down.NEW GOAL(s):

I've seen 3 people in the age range of 19 to 28 do it just on my college club team alone, and several guys in the low to mid 500's. In terms of the general population yes its rare, when referring to the lifting populatio (and even more specific people who actually know what they are doing) its strong but not some unobtainable number

oh god, i knew this thread was going to be all about drugs.
LOUIE IS 63 ****ING YEARS OLD
drugs or not, he's kicking ass in a 63 year old man's body. how many 60 year old men can even deadlift 225? he is physically stronger than what 99% of the male population could ever hope to be.
if his results at age of 63 are the outcome of drugs (aside from minor stuff, such as being the top powerlifting coach in the world), then hook me up with some vials.

anyone got a vid of the meet?

i'm not trying to start anything. i just think its stupid to point out that the guy is on the juice. we all know it takes a lot more than drugs to get anywhere close to an 1850 total. plus, the guy is 63yrs old. if i'm still even able to lift at 63 i'll most likely be on something. everyone here knows you must do what it takes to get to the top. and louie knows that better than any of us.

1800 lb total in multi ply? Thats not very impressive when people close to 3k.
If this was multi ply only thing that was impressive is the deadlift, but Think remember seeing ivdeo of 70 year old man pulling 700lbs raw before.
I think his elitiest ideas of training are flawed and he hasn't produced any great lifters outside of multi ply where the rules are ridiculous and people get away with murder in terms of judging.Last edited by someonefat; 01-02-2010 at 04:34 AM.

Who cares if Louie is using PEDs? 670lb deadlift is a 670lb deadlift. The 'roids don't lift the weights for you. How about you guys congratulate an old veteran on an elite total?

Next drug discussion post = two week ban.
Not going to bother cleaning up a thread, deleting, etc. Hammer first, clean later.
Sick of this. Been against the rules in this section for years.
