Seriously, this is the tournament where we are supposed to watch the best teams in the world play football at its highest level.
Instead of seeing great footballing nations like Russia, Sweden, Croatia, Ecuador, Czech Republic, Turkey, Tunisia etc., we are forced to watch Slovenia, Slovakia, Chile, New Zealand, North Korea and Denmark.
Instead of seeing Arshavin, Ibrahimovic, Modric, Valencia, Rosicky, Arda Turan etc. this World Cup, we'll be watching a bunch of no-names play for the most prestigious trophy in the world.
Plus, we wont be seeing Cambiasso, Zanetti, Riquelme, Ronaldinho, Pato, Nasri, Benzema, Essien, Ballack etc. for their nations.
The lack of talent is very sad, this tournament will be a disappointment.

OP you're a fcking retard...if all those teams are so incredible then they should've qualified...if those players you mentioned didn't play during qualifying or they weren't called up or they played and their team lost then boo fcking hoo.
Why do I give a sh!t about watching Ibrahimovic play for the shtty Swedish national team? I'd much rather watch him play with Barca...same goes for Rosicky and Arshavin...if the Russians and Swedes and Croats aren't good enough to qualify then I don't want to watch them stink the joint up during the World Cup.Sponsored Animal PM Log:

The world cup has showcased emerging talent for years and new stars will be born. Last world cup there was Togo, Costa Rica and a load of **** teams. That s why the European Cup is much harder to win, more strength in depth.
However the best teams are all there and as a English Arsenal fan i would like to see Holland pick up the trophy, shame about the defence.

lol...you mean the same England that has no keeper worth a sh!t, a captain who was just demoted, Gerrard and Lampard who can't play together, and no 2nd striker to pair with Rooney? That England?
Against the US who beat Spain and has hung with Argentina AND Brazil in the last few years?
England...lulzSponsored Animal PM Log:

Dempsey is a great American player but not a world class talent. I played against him (and Ricardo Clark) in my last college match years back. Still, better than what the USA could have offered until relatively recent times.
The claim that American soccer/football is on the rise is rather ridiculous though. I have heard the same thing for the last 15 years or so after a couple of good performances and then everything goes back to square one. The MLS continues to be a pathetic league (regardless of expansion) played in the extreme heat of summer where the game has little/no technical and tactical concern and instead becomes a conditioning competition. Very little American player development; too many players brought on from small Caribbean countries or Central America or wherever else.
Can the US be better than they have been historically? Yes. However I sincerely don't see any rise to be a consistent world power in the foreseeable future. The infrastructure just doesn't exist.I REP BACK (1K+); please write "REP BACK" in comment.
