I played it during the open beta/stress test this last weekend. It's been pretty fun. Hard from the beginning unlike d3. I was also blown away at the customizability of the chars. I will be following it for sure. My only gripe is with some of the animations; they need some work.

Loved this game, played this last open beta weekend.
I haven't played video games in years, always get very bored of most of them in the first 1-2 hours, played Diablo 3, got to about level 8... bored to hell.
PoE has been very fun though, didn't have much time to play, but got to level 16 - which is a lot for someone like me lol. Have been playing Shadow and it's just really fun, totally is the game D3 should have been, much more challenging.

I liked diablo 3 at first but doing anything in inferno is just an exercise in using the auction house.
I'm not willing to pay real money just so I can complete a game I have already paid for.
PoE is taking some time to get used to though, I agree with Dryst about the combat mechanics,

just a couple of things they need to improve before i invested anything into this game
-more fluid movements (played a ranger and the ability to kite = 0) there seems to be a world cd after an action is taken where u cant do anything making the combat seem clunky as chit
-faster paced combat, can probally fix this this in with making the combat smoother
-map, used the same exact map mechanic as D2, need to upgrade the maps and zones are lot more complex in this game and its hard as **** to navigate
-quests, during open beta i hardly knew where the hell i was going, only way to see whats next is to open up the journal/log and even then u dont know where its at₪ ₪ ₪TRUE MI$CER₪ ₪ ₪

does anyone find the skill tree very confusing? it branches all over the place and its hard to find a reference point.

tank maurader is the easiest class i have played...use 1 handed mace+shield...main damaging move is ground slam
don't know much about templars, but most classes revolve around using a move like ground slam+elemental damage gem+increased elemental damage gem and using a talent tree with all of the elemental damage nodes
on a maurader armor+life nodes are very good, so are life regen
http://www.pathofexile.com/classes/m...w-thread/36565
they changed the skill tree format since last time i checked, ill look at it for a few minutesyou are only here once

I think this is the strongest point of the game - all the choices.
If there's one thing I could complain about the passive skill tree is that respeccing is very hard, you pick up these items while leveling that are VERY rare that allow you to respec one point... I wouldn't mind seeing something like a full respec every 3 weeks or something, all those options in the tree should be able to be explored eventually in the same character.

I got my beta invite back in late june I believe (it was a couple weeks before the first POE open beta) and they've really grabbed my attention. It legitimately FEELS like a true successor to Diablo II.
At first I didn't know what to make of the skill "tree" but after I had a few hours into the game and had gotten time to really poke around and explore what it offers, I like it SO much more than simply dumping points into dex/int/strength/etc. The little higher power nodes can really change the game play mechanics quite a bit depending on what class you are. for example, I've got 2 different marauder builds that both focus on blood magic and it's a HUUUUGE shift in game strategy once your skills drain health instead of mana. You balance your combat in a completely different way.
The one thing I do wish it had were class specific gems and gear.
It would be cool to see like a marauder skill gem that would give him a cool new ability that none of the other classes could do. That and I'd like to see gear that say (again for example) only a marauder could use that would have a built in marauder only skill gem that's always there and levels up like a normal skill gem would. This could translate to amulets, rings, helmets, etc just like diablo II.
the other major gripe is lack of a gamma control on the graphics menu. My main desktop monitor is a little darker than most and the caves and crypts are pretty hard to navigate since there's no ambiant light ANYWHERE in dungeons
My least favorite thing though by FAR is the 15 minute instance reset on areas. I absolutely RAGE quit when I fight through 2 levels of a dungeon or something only to get killed, start back in town and have to fight through everything all over again because the map has reset and re-randomize. I've quit numerous times over this garbage and really would pay good $$ to have the instance timer doubled or something. This was one of the features of Diablo 2 that they unfortunately skipped.
I agree the combat mechanics need some work (I think it's a practically non existent hitbox size that's causing the problems) Shift clicking with a melee character is virtually impossible to land hits even if you've unlocked the "resolute technique" skill on the skill tree which gives you 100% hit accuracy but 0% crit chance. There's also little to no feedback in combat indcating crits/block/miss,etc and very little actual combat physics are in place.
The good news about that is that the developers are well aware of this and have specifically said they still have quite a bit of work planned to improve the feel of the combat. Kripparian was streaming POE all this past weekend during the public beta and the grinding gear devs were actually there in his stream chat feed answering questions. They specifically said that POE is about 1/3 finished product.
Even being only 1/3 complete and the issues I mentioned, it's still OUTSTANDING IMO and well worth the measly 10 bucks to play as much as you want.

Nice to see there is still some interest from the misc in the game.
Yeah I was feeling the same. Best $10 I spent to play the closed Beta though tbh.
What are your guys' character names?
And what class/build are you planning on playing?
Im currently testing out shadow and marauder trying to figure out which I like best.gday m8

Eagerly awaiting open beta. I chilled out a while back and am waiting for the final character wipe before picking back up. I don't want to invest any time in it only for it to be wiped out soon there after.
Once the wipe hits and it is up and going for good, I have a feeling I'm going to be playing the hell out of it. I've been watching a lot of Kripparian's streaming POE and his templar builds are CRAZY strong so I think I may do that.
I beat act II boss and finished the beta a while back using a marauder build though. Blood magic combined with life steal, numerous skill points into adding more life/regen and having 5 health flasks with really fast recovery made him virtually unkillable. I was even strong enough to spam heavy strike on whatever that final boss at the top of the pyramid was.
I played enough that I felt like I had adequately experienced all that the game had to offer at that point so I stopped playing.

Anyone else participating in the one week race starting tonight? Starts in 2 hours.
