HBO mini series. Very authentic so far IMO. Makes me feel like I am back with 1/5 Marines. Even the mean ass Sgt Major. We had one of those; called him little satan. (not to his face )
Highly recommend. If you don't get HBO download the torrent.

i just watched the first episode now.
really well done. im a big fan of war movies and things like band of brothers. characters are portrayed well. the suspense and overall feel of the show is awesome.
only thing i hate about being a fan of a new TV series is having to wait a week for the next episode. i got lucky with band of brothers and got the DVDs.
looking forward to the next one!seated rows before hoes

i just watched episode 2 last night, and this show is blowing my mind.
That episode was one of the best episodes of ANY TV show I've seen in my ENTIRE life (and that's a lot of TV). I was leaning forward the whole time, so enrapt in what was happening i seriously felt like i was there.
They may have spent more money on that 2nd ep of Generation Kill than they did on the whole first season of The Wire.
Best TV show 2008, no doubt about it.vegetable-based protein ftw
on hiatus - too many douche bags here.....

Yeah I heard about the negative reviews on Jarhead. Not sure what they were expecting (message on War/Politics you get with the big dramas or sad stories)? Just more of a true life experience (docudrama like) that was pretty funny and real. I guess I didn't go in with much, but came out with something in return.

Good show. The only thing they could have done better was to make the combat a little more dramatic.
When they were driving through that town on the second(or third?) episode it seemed a little cheesy to me.
But maybe I'm just so used to all the hollywood special effects now that the more realistic thing doesn't do it for me.11B, NASM CPT, CFL1

Ah, Jarhead is what it is. Dude got rich off of hating the marine corps. The movie was decent just because being a marine you can see how those dudes really act like we do. Stupid **** to keep our minds occupied. I still didnt like the idea behind the movie though..If your into war movies and whatnot dont expect much, just expect to see a disgruntled marine's view on the marine corps.

Have you read the book? It seems almost dead accurate. 1st Recon's mission in the initial push was just to blaze through the towns at 35 to 40 MPH drawing fire so that they knew enemy pos' and so they can do call for fire missions or give sitrep back to higher so the USAF or the USN could have some fun. The episode your talking about all they really did in that instance was used their MK 19 in one of the HMMWV's to take down a building. Maybe cheesy but accurate.

Have you watched band of brothers? That's probably the most engrossing series I've ever watched.
Not that I knew how it really was during WWII, but there was never a moment in Band of Brothers where I felt like I was watching a movie... more like you were living through their experience.11B, NASM CPT, CFL1
