Instead of ham, egg and cheese sandwichs for breakfast, I have been trying to bring in oatmeal. I am staying away from the pre-packaged quaker stuff, and buying the canisters of 1 minute oats. They taste pretty bland so I was looking for ways to make the taste better.
would honey put in after I microwave the oatmeal be good nutritionally?

I put a teaspoon of honey and some walnuts in my oatmeal in the morning. A teaspoon of honey is only about 5 grams of sugar and it makes a huge difference in the taste of the oats. The way I see it is that if the only way you are going to eat it is if you add a little honey then do it. It is much better than what you were doing before switching to oatmeal.

you might try what I do...
i put 1 cup of raw oats in a bowl, add 1-2 scoops ON pro complex vanilla protein powder and add 1/2 cup fat free yogurt.
its like 75 g protein, 600 cals for breakfast. takes 30 seconds to put together.
personally i like the taste alot. but its not very sweet so you could add 1 TB honey as well, or blueberries or whatever

I consume 2 to 4 tablespoons of honey on workout days. I always mix it in my oatmeal/oat bran, and I have about 2 to 3 servings of that a day (usually).
When I used to do cardio, I'd take about 3 TB of honey right afterwards. Good stuff. No supplement has the power that is greater than the power of eatin' clean and liftin' hard.

I agree that honey is ok as long as you have it in moderation & preferably for breakfast or pwo.
If you're looking for more ideas on how to make oats less plain, I like cinnamon (sometimes with some splenda or raisins) or fruit (berries, apple, banana) in my oats. Scrambled eggs and a slice of processed cheese is also really good.

Im not sure about the "goodness" of honey. I suppose it is gonna depend if youre bulking or cutting. If youre cutting i just cant see how it would be good as far as getting cut, as far as making things taste better then thats easy to understand. As pointed out by someone else its got the same makeup as tablesugar and so its gonna release insulin and trigger off bodily functions which wont induce cutting....i wrote all that but i still take honey myself. Have been off the forum too long, gotta admit part of my motivation is reading, and seeing fotos, of others progress and their motivation to get the results that they have so obviously worked hard for.
If you fail to plan Then you plan to fail.
