Anyone have feedback on A.G. Russell knives? Thinking about picking up a "bird & trout knife", its made out of VG10 steel. Is that quality steel?

Don't know if anyone is a fan of the esee/dpx hest but its my favorite knife. Its imho the perfect fixed blade EDC knife but I digress. Since i first got it I have been wishing they made a similar but larger version as well and DPX just released several new knives. They aren't made by/with ESEE anymore and I have to look into the warranty before buying but I will most likely get a heft 4.
They released the hest v2, heft 4 and heft 6. Each of the heft come in an 'assault' and woodsman version and i'm leaning toward the latter. The prices are pretty brutal, going to have to look into that and the type of steel they are using as well, its called sleipner tool steel and its hardness rating is a little higher than 1095.

lol you need to stop buying more knives then.
I'm surprised my Seal Pup hasn't rusted yet, I've cut shark steaks with it and cleaned ducks on the edge of the bay and rinsed it with seawater, etc. It's too big for most of my duties but when I'm building a tarp shelter on the island while a big northern is coming in it makes short work of the TONS of freaking rope cuts I end up making (I'm always in a hurry doing that). Also wile just around camp that kydex sheath has a little slot in it so I can cut small rope (paracord sized, etc) without even unsheathing the knife.

anyone know how much this might be worth or how i'd find out how much its worth? its NIB and from about '98. its a buck, number 47/1000
i'd like to sell it and get something a little more useable and a little less collectable.Last edited by bubba289; 03-05-2012 at 01:00 PM.
