it's not just the size, but look at how high up on the humerous it inserts compared to the others....
this is a great example of a genetic structural advantage....

Roelly blew Branch off the stage with his upper body.
The leg advantage goes to Branch but it was not near as dramatic as Roelly's upper body domination.
I'm going to see if I can find pictures of their respective BDB poses and see if its close. If so then It seems that Roelly might have been shafted.
I like Branch but some of his placings and wins are...

On Second look it does look like Roelly's chest is a little lacking compared to Branch, although I can't tell if hes fully hit that front lat spread yet when the pic was snapped.
Roelly could uses a little more chest meat and thickness. That might have been something that tipped it in Branch's favor.

I like Roelly's physique. I do not really like Branch's physique. Roelly's upper body looked better from the front. And better from the back in aesthetics, but got dominated in size - Branch has an incredibly ugly back, but its thickness stands with anyone nowadays, Roelly's back is still amateur level (but pretty lines).
Roelly had him on arms, front/side delts, abs, and lines. Branch had him on back, rear delts, legs, size and conditioning. That's just too damn much. Branch was much bigger and much more conditioned overall. Roelly arguably should not have placed as high as second either.
Even from the front... Roelly's upper body does not "dominate" Branch's, as much as Branch's legs dominate Roelly. Their upper bodies clearly trade blows. Whereas Roelly's legs do not get so much as a light jab in.

Went back and looked at the contest pictures and you are spot on. Also looks like Roelly's left rear delt is noticeably smaller than the right one. Back thickeness and width definitely goes to Branch. But man is that Bicep/forearm/front delt comparison stark. Branch definitely brought more than Roelly overall though.
